Ask a lawyer.

Call the city or the people who built your house and ask for blueprints. The blueprints should show the property boundaries.
I don't really want to go to my Country recorders office, mainly because I have not the slightest idea where the fuck it is.

Lines? As in boundary lines or power/telegraph lines? Either way, I'd say to get in contact with your regional council. Considering that you've got to get their permission to dig/build en masse, I'd assume they have a fair idea regarding the location of underground lines.
