It's a glitch in the simulation. We were never meant to see Mars, they hadn't finished coding it yet.

Yes there are aliens on mars and they decided the best course for communication was subtly placing a rock in a way that could easily be dismissed and then continued hiding and avoiding all other contact.

I guess it probably is the wind, because some of the small pebbles around it seem to have changed. Then again, some also didnt, and if the wind could move the mystery rock, it should've moved whatever smaller pebbles were there as well, and alot of them didn't move. Could be terrain, though. Hard to tell.
it's interesting to me that there's an impression or indent in the same spot as the rock in the 'before' picture
i'm betting it's just wind, but it'd be cool if it was some sort of cloaked rock using martian technology or something
