The search for a new Superman has officially begun, with Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder scouring the earth for that perfect mix of Clark Kent and his alter-ego Superman. According to Deadline, they'll be looking at hundreds of candidates that will fall between the ages of 28-32, which suggests this won't be another Superman origin story (which is good). The actors they'll be auditioning will range from complete unknowns to more well-known personalities from TV, like, for example, True Blood's Joe Maganiello or Ian Somerhalder from The Vampire Diaries, both of whom Deadline mentions as potential contenders. The name Armie Hammer has also been brought up; he's the guy who played both Winklevoss twins in The Social Network, and at one point was set to play Batman in the failed live-action Justice League movie. Production on the next Superman movie is said to be gearing up for a June start, partly because the studio will be dealing with rights issues if they don't have another movie out by 2013. If production begins in June, there's a very good chance we could have both a new Batman and Superman movie in theaters in 2012. That said, with both Harry Potter ending in 2011, and Christopher Nolan's Batman series ending in 2012, it's likely that Warner Bros. will want to save Superman and debut it on the same July weekend in 2013 since it's been very kind to the studio over the years.
Source: http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/superman-movie-begins-looking-for-its-man-of-steel-649493.html BONUS Q and A: Who do you think they should cast as Superman considering the age range? My Answer: 28
ask my friend Steely Dan
Robert Pattinson. Especially after that new Superman comic series that came out.
Wait, Zack Snyder is involved with this? I can see it now... Atop the roof of the daily planet, there's brown bloom EVERYWHERE Luthor: Who are you to stand in my way?! Superman: I...AM...SUPERMAAAAAAAN! (Kicks him off the roof, slow motion EVERYWHERE)
Me.

Eric Bana no question about it. I think he'd fit in perfectly. Even if he is 10 years above their age limit.
Yeah, but Eric Bana already played a superhero, and he did a fucking shit-awful job of it. PhwBoooom. So vivid.
Everyone did an awful job on The Hulk, it was a bad movie. I really like his acting in almost every other movie though.
I liked him in "Munich," but I can't think of any other movies I've seen him in, right off the top of my head. I say we give Whoopi a chance. It's not the kind of role she usually plays, but I bet she could really pull off Superman very well.
wolverine cause he is steel
I don't understand why anyone could like Superman, he's such a bland character. I'd rather have them make a movie about The Sentry, now that would be entertainment.
Christopher Reeves was a good Superman. Why not keep it in the family? Hire me! (My last name is Reeves)
Nicolas Cage as Superman Make it happen.
Sean Connery as Superman "I have saved you, Now lets see some PUSSY!"
Obama for superman.
Hugh Laurie

I'll do it.
