http://www.pressherald.com/news/projects/note-to-readers_2013-03-17.html I can't embed the video. There is a short 17 minute excerpt out of the 2 hour full ordeal that shows the actual spraying and pleading.
When one officer pinned his head to the chair, Schlosser struggled and spit at an officer. Welch sprayed him at close range with pepper spray, called OC spray, from a canister intended to be used on multiple people at a distance of 18 to 20 feet, according to an investigator's report. Welch then refused to let Schlosser, who said he couldn't breathe, wash his face for 24 minutes. A spit mask was placed over Schlosser's mouth and nose, trapping the pepper spray against his face.
(User was banned for this post ("Rules: No cruelty" - Orkel)) (User was banned for this post ("Rules: No cruelty" - Orkel))
what the hell is wrong with those cops.
isn't this torture? this is definitely cruel and unusual punishment
that's fucking torture.
Why the fuck are all these guys in full riot gear for one guy? This is insane. How can this be America?
Why the fuck are all these guys in full riot gear for one guy? This is insane. How can this be America?
Yeah its not like has acidic spit like the aliens from... Alien.
I don't think that the cop understands what happens when you get pepper sprayed in the fucking face.
despicable
I don't think that the cop understands what happens when you get pepper sprayed in the fucking face.
No, he actually did it once when he became a cop, and he has been downplaying it since then.
Why did you post this twice? It's pretty terrible that this happened though. The guys an idiot for spitting but to have THAT happen to him is way too much.

The thread in SS is about Maine's response to the leak mostly, but if it is uncalled for then I hope a mod can just mercifully close one of the threads.
it's fucked up that the captain was asking over and over "why did you spit in that officer's face? why did you do it?" just to try and get an answer for no apparent reason other than to demand respect, while the victim could barely speak and his head was being forced back by another officer.
I bet these cops are going to get shot now that everyone knows what they look like. They should be, this video pisses me the fuck off.
I bet these cops are going to get shot now that everyone knows what they look like. They should be, this video pisses me the fuck off.
I, for one don't think they should be SHOT.
In my eyes this is downright corruption. People that behave like this are not the ones I want to be calling for help or counting on ever. I don't care if they do their job well, this kind of stuff is inhumane and should be punished.
They keep telling him to relax and calm down, how the hell is he supposed to calm down after he got pepper sprayed in the face?
Anyone that sides with the prisoner needs to realize a multitude of things. This individual is and was clearly combative/disruptive. You don't get placed in a restraint chair, suicide vest, and escorted by armored COs for no reason and they even say they've been dealing with this behavior for 2 days straight. Yes the CO overstepped his bounds when he OC'd him point blank in the mouth and nose and no doubt that would make it difficult to breathe. As soon as he claimed to have breathing problems(which he grossly over exaggerated) they immediately called for medical. The prisoner is pleading to get his way, not because he's in danger. If you consider this torture then you have no fucking idea how easy this prisoner got it compared to a disruptive prisoner in another country.
Why the fuck are all these guys in full riot gear for one guy? This is insane. How can this be America?
He was refusing to cooperate. As part of procedure they are required to suit up for removing uncooperative cellmates because in cell encounters between guards and inmates are more dangerous, especially since it's a smaller area. Also they are required to film situations where the inmate is none cooperative. This particular guy was confirmed to have hepatitis C and so spitting on the officer puts him at risk of contracting it of the spitter had any open sores or cuts in his mouth. Regardless of this, the situation was still handled improperly to an extent. http://www.onlinesentinel.com/news/prison-captain-fired-but-later-reinstated-after-pepper-spraying-inmate__2013-03-17.html was the article I read and got my info.

[editline]23rd March 2013[/editline] also you NEVER oc a guy and then obstruct his breathing with a mask.
If you consider this torture then you have no fucking idea how easy this prisoner got it compared to a disruptive prisoner in another country.
Good thing this is America and not "another country", right? This is cruel and unusual punishment. Even if the prisoner is a complete ASSHOLE, pepper spraying him and then covering up his mouth and nose while still under the effects of the pepper spray is completely overboard.

The worst they did after OCing him was forcing his head to be leaned back but if what Kubisiak said is right and he had Hep C these officers did exactly what they should do for their own safety. Like I said the point blank OC blast to his nose and mouth(which is far worse than the eyes) was a little extreme and out of line but he's lucky that's all he had to endure. Again people who take the video for face value have no idea how wrong they are in this regard, calling it corruption and brutality.
This guy was trying shit the cops probably fucking knew what kind of douche this guy is and prepared for the worst. I got no sympathy for these types.
This guy was trying shit the cops probably fucking knew what kind of douche this guy is and prepared for the worst. I got no sympathy for these types.
They aren't cops
They aren't cops
guys of the law whatever
guys of the law whatever
They don't enforce laws either. These guys are just correctional officers aka they just guard/maintain order. Cops are only in present when they drop your ass off in Intake and during transfers/transportation to court, thou 9 times outta 10 moving prisoners is handled by the counties sheriff's department.
After watching the video, I've decided to hold ALL opinions. How he was talking before he thought he was dying told a different story about how he acted towards authority. If you or I had decided to be law enforcement, you or I would know that the kind of mental stresses this job can bring can lead you places. I would bring SWEET justice on someone who treated me like absolute shit. At a certain point enough is enough. Really look at that video. If this is torture, torture is a lot softer than I remember it. They Covered his eyes so he didn't get directly maced. They care about not seriously injuring this guy. I KNOW it's tempting to look at it and be like "Shit, that guy could be me!" but unless you are a disrespectful man child who hands out cunt bullshit like flyers, this won't happen to you. But piss enough people off, and you may see the last guy you pissed off holding the camera.

I don't care what kind of cop/guard/officer/swat/fbi/cia/interpol these guys are, nor is this important to this conversation all I know is they are on a duty on prisoner control by the government and are doing it pretty well in my opinion. Only thing that bothers me is the guy asking questions "Why'd you do it", "Why did you messed up", which is fucking retarded because he should know better than to ask arbitrary questions to a criminal. He probably did it to look like the "good" guy on camera.

The people calling them cops really shows their ignorance in this matter.
Disproportionate Retribution much? It's like slamming someone's face on their food plate repeatedly after they find your hair in it. Or attempting to drown someone in a kitchen sink after they splashed water on you.
