Two brothers allegedly shot dead by their neighbour on the NSW mid-north coast were gunned down over a dispute about loud music, police believe.
The bodies of 29-year-old primary school teacher Luke Willis and his 22-year-old university student brother Sam were discovered with gunshot wounds on Sunday night in the Newcastle suburb of Mayfield.
The neighbour, who lives behind Sam, was charged last night over the brothers' murders and will appear in Newcastle Local Court today.
The 53-year-old handed himself into handed himself in to police yesterday.
Police allege the neighbour shot the brothers as they were standing outside the nature strip of his home at about 6:10pm on Sunday night.
The neighbour then allegedly placed the gun in one of the brothers's hands before fleeing the scene, the Daily Telegraph reports.
The shooting is believed to have been the culmination of a dispute about some loud music coming from a party Sam held 18 months ago.
In the months before his murder, other neighbours said Sam had received death threats, his car was vandalised and hate mail about him was distributed around the area.
Both of the brothers had previously worked at a local after-hours daycare centre.
The centre’s coordinator Liz Treadwell told the Daily Telegraph the boys were brilliant carers and mentors to the children.
"They were wonderful, kind, gentle, fun-loving . . ." she was quoted as saying.
That's insane.
"The shooting is believed to have been the culmination of a dispute about some loud music coming from a party Sam held 18 months ago."
Talk about holding a grudge, shit.
I know loud music can get annoying and all, but holy shit.

18 Months ago? Does that mean they stopped it 18 months ago? What the fuck?
Eighteen months? Fucking prick should have died of a cerebral hemorrhage bottling up that much irrational anger.
This occurred very close to my school :tinfoil:

All Common wealth schools are now property of the Queen. :colbert:
I thought this was the Newcastle upon tyne England so I wasn't too shocked.
18 months, hate mail, fucking with his car and other bullshit.
If I was either of the brothers I'd have challenged him to fisticuffs :colbert:
This made me turn my music down.
I don't need to worry, my neighbours will never hear my music, they are a good distance away.
18 months? Christ, how can someone hold a grudge over something so petty for so long?
I throw pasta at the guy living below me's window whenever he plays loud music. Which is every other day.
Rather extreme
Ugh, faggots with guns...

Hell no, man. Not even.
Instead of killing them why not just say "Can you turn the music down a bit?"

:wtc:
I doubt we're hearing the full story.
Instead of killing them why not just say "Can you turn the music down a bit?"
They probably refused.
Even if they did, it's still a retarded grudge and a poor excuse to kill them.
Does this deserve a facepalm?
A guy turns loud music nearby too. I once had to ask him what song was he just listening to. He has great playlists.
