And this is why reviewers shouldn't have biased opinions when talking about games
He actually kinda seems to have a point with the DRM, but I don't think that's a big enough reason to never ever play the game, ever. Unless it's in protest or something.

After watching the whole video, I actually agree with him.
I GET IT FUK EA* GEIMS GO DAWNLOADING A PIRACY VERSHON
Great job Dan, your dumbass fanbase takes this as a sign to pirate the game.
I would never pay money for a game with always online DRM, particularly ones that are not multiplayer focused.

Well, his fanbase isn't really that dumb compared to some other Let's Players.
DRM wasn't so bad, but not being able to open an older save or download other peoples' saves?
50% of the fun of the older Simcities was blowing up your town!
Nevermind, fuck EA.
Even if you hate the game and everything it stands for... Why would you still not review it? It would get your point across better and make you not look like a twat.

Did you miss the point where he said he is completely boycotting it?
no one caressssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss about some youtube celebrity's opinion
Did you miss the point where he said he is completely boycotting it?
No, but should we really care about some let's player boycotting a game?

Personally I gained information from his rant and I agree with him.
It doesn't really matter he is a let's player but he has the audience to inform people and let them make their own decisions. You can pick to ignore it and buy the game, others can pick to boycott it as well.

except given the thought process of most youtube users/subscribers to these types of people they base their opinions on what their little celebrity thinks instead of forming their own
[sp]aka a tool[/sp]
I don't see why this is that dumb. He makes a lot of valid non-gameplay points. DRM may only let this game live for a year.
People need to stop being such little babies about DRM.

What exactly does the average youtube user being a dumbass have to do with this? He isn't saying "I am boycotting it therefore you should boycott it"
He is saying "I am boycotting it and here is why: reasons, and I think you should too" You can make your own decision based on that.

I can, but the average user doesn't
I just really generally dislike youtube celebrities; they think they're hot shit online and think everytime they have an opinion the world of youtube needs to know about it

And your sources are the PDP fans that spout blind praise in the comments section, right? This guy's fanbase is a lot smarter, probably because he doesn't sell-out and do crossovers and merchandising crap, and you can't really just generalize every person who likes a specific person as a blind fool.

Seriously?
He's a game reviewer, man, that's literally his job.
[editline]a[/editline]
What's the "average user" anyway? The 9 year old idiots who say "i love pewdiepie you can suck a big ass cookie" aren't the universal standard for anyone who listens to a Let's Player/game reviewer.

How is boycotting a game because you don't like the producer's business decisions stupid? Everyone says that if you don't like something a corporation does you should vote with your money, as that is the only way to get them to stop doing the thing you don't like.
But then when somebody goes and does it, everyone says that he is dumb and a cry-baby.

A lot of people don't really trust big-time magazines and official publications anymore, and they have pretty damn good reason. I'd post that video of IGN being bribed to give Mass Effect 3 an 11/10 but I think words get the point across far enough. Besides, there's an entertainment value in the humor and emotion they add as opposed to black-on-white text that's likely the words of the devs being fed into the editor's mouth.

too many edges
Yeah I was actually looking forward to the new simcity.. not gonna buy it however, for me it's just a matter of principle.
It makes me really fucking angry that terrible business practices can sully the name of an otherwise good looking game. With that said, I still pre-ordered the game off of amazon, and I'm going to enjoy playing it.
On the note of nerdcubed, I like how he basically alienated the part of his audience who want to play this game (me included). It would have been fine to just explain EA's business and let the people decide whether or not to buy the game instead of saying "DONT BUY THIS GAME AND IF YOU DO YOU'RE A TWAT". Also apparently the person who says "one person isn't going to make a difference" is a twat, even though in this day and age they are completely right.
I have no idea which direction this thread is going.

That's because there are two groups of people: the people who have played the game and like it therefore not giving a fuck about DRM, and the people who have never played it and are jumping on the DRM-hate bandwagon.

Did you watch it or just read the comments? He never said to not buy the game or you're an idiot, he listed all the things wrong with the game's DRM and server-hosted saves and told you to make a decision for yourself.

(Some) people are defending unethical business practices just because NerdCubed made a video saying he's boycotting it.

But always-online DRM really isn't a good thing.
