Daft Punk's previous best position was in 2000 when they reached number two with the disco-house hit One More Time.
http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/daft-punk-groove-their-way-to-first-ever-uk-number-1-with-get-lucky-2186/
Racking up massive sales this week of over 155,000, Get Lucky topples Rudimental’s Waiting All Night to score the biggest one-week sales tally of the year. In a little over a week, Get Lucky has already become the third biggest hit of Daft Punk’s career, behind 2000’s One More Time and 1997’s Around The World.
It's really funky.
how LUCKY HA HA or great musical talent maybe that
Doubt it will get #1 in the USA with the talent-less hacks in top 100 billboard. I however want it to.
Finally a decent #1. It's normally Generic Club Track no.235.

looks like they got lucky
shucks.
It's really funky.
Avatar fits.
I think Daft Punk's music is okay, but it's much, much better than the generic pop trash about partying that get shoveled onto the charts every year. Good for them.
This song refuses to leave the news headlines
It's heaps better than most of the billboard trash out there, but it's not that good to be perfectly honest. A few listens and I'm already bored with it. And I can't get over Pharrel's vocals. I probably was just expecting too much given all the hype.
gangnam style was better imo
I may not like it that much, but it's a step in the right direction for respectable pop music.
It's always nice to see good artists get rewarded.
while it wears out after some time like every song does there are so many remixes of daft punk songs that i just listen to them
I may not like it that much, but it's a step in the right direction for respectable pop music.
they stepped back 30 years but okay.
Yeah, a step in the right direction.
"i dont like modern music, ugh! thank god for the 80's!!"

Right now there are quite a few decent tracks in there. Apart from that Pitbull song which is literally the worst song I have ever heard.
who cares, would you guys care if any other band that wasn't generic house/trance hit # 1? no
who cares, would you guys care if any other band that wasn't generic house/trance hit # 1? no
"i dont care therefore nobody should care"
who cares, would you guys care if any other band that wasn't generic house/trance hit # 1? no
We wouldn't care because if some other generic band that we didn't appreciate or grow up listening to it wouldn't be significant to us at all. Your comment is redundant.
We wouldn't care because if some other generic band that we didn't grow up listening to or appreciate it wouldn't be significant to us at all. Is the full single even out yet?
irrelevant, if i grew up listening to death metal, and a death metal band had a number one hit, would that warrant me posting a thread about it?
If you really wanted to, sure. The thing is, a lot of people know Daft Punk, and they like to know that they have new songs and are starting to make a comeback.
Something about this track, it gets fresher every time I listen to it. When it comes to sounds I'd put this song up their with the closing of a fridge door.
irrelevant, if i grew up listening to death metal, and a death metal band had a number one hit, would that warrant me posting a thread about it?
Yes, it actually would.
who cares, would you guys care if any other band that wasn't generic house/trance hit # 1? no
I'd say it's pretty amazing that this is the first UK #1 they've gotten, since they've been in the electronic music business for a long damn while now, released a bunch of great albums, and have a massive fan following.
Is the full single even out yet?
I believe their full song is out on youtube now if you've only heard the preview version.
irrelevant, if i grew up listening to death metal, and a death metal band had a number one hit, would that warrant me posting a thread about it?
Just accept that fact that Daft Punk are one of the most popular acts in the world and thus them releasing a single for the first time in almost a decade is pretty serious business.
