They keep changing the damn ui I liked the previous ui before the one that it's in place.
its amazing how a massive corporation with hundreds of employees who are at the top in their fields still cant design a UI that is appealing to use and have to keep constantly changing it

This makes me miss the simplicity of the original 360's dashboard.
Microsoft recently unveiled a New unified UI aesthetic they plan to use on all platforms so the Xbox is getting it first
Seriously, leave my shit alone. I don't want to have to relearn how to navigate my PC and xbox again.
how many times did they update the 360 UI? I foresee them doing this at least that many times.
This is 1000% better than before. It's the #1 reason I left Xbox, the dashboard is so stupid to navigate through.
how many times did they update the 360 UI? I foresee them doing this at least that many times.
Three times. Well, two updates but three dashboards. The original blades, the "new xbox experience" dashboard, and the current metro one. NXE was the good one, imo.
this is also the update that will have the new avatar system so they are probably building the UI with that in mind too edit: Win 10 Mention https://majornelson.com/2017/08/07/latest-xbox-update-releases-to-insiders-starting-today/
Game Bar Gets Even Better: On Windows 10, we’re making it easier than ever to enable or disable Game Mode on a per-game basis by putting a switch directly in the Game bar. Mixer broadcasting with the Game bar will now give you more choices on the audio you broadcast; a new settings option will let you choose to broadcast game-only audio, or system-wide audio. We’ve also added a new Xbox Live Network Troubleshooting option to the Settings menu in Windows 10, which will help you track down connectivity issues and optimize your online multiplayer experience.
I gotta say, this looks like a bit of a mess. It feels like outside of the main home screen, nothing is obvious and instead of just being able to know and understand how it works by design cues and whatnot, you have to spend time to learn. For example, I never would have realised that there is stuff underneath the main home screen because there's absolutely nothing to indicate that. Compare the design cues of the home tab vs the community tab. It's obvious that there is more there, it's obvious where to go, what to do. To me, that goes against the whole point of using a game console. Simplicity and ease of use is king. This doesn't seem to have that. Overall compared to the current UI it feels like you're getting less from it, for more complexity.
"Suggestions" you mean paid advert space. What trash.
I will admit, I am looking forward to seeing those new avatars, the old ones are shite.

Gamebar / Xbox app is imho the worst.
As others have said, I'm not a big fan of the "revolving door" style of updates where the UI/UX design choices are modified every year or half-year. I can totally understand fixing valid design issues or adding new features, but design changes of this scale seem a bit overkill, not to mention they aren't exactly as intuitive as the 360's original blades menu. It seems like iteration just for iteration's sake.

every xone design has been shit why cant they just keep it like the 360 one
every xone design has been shit why cant they just keep it like the 360 one
I think their need to constantly refresh the menu is a left-over from the Don Mattrick era of Xbox. The original "New Xbox Experience update" on Xbox 360 was meant to add more support for marketing/advertising based features. The updated 360 Marketplace incorporated box art instead of the generic icons to increase game sales, and the square panels they added to replace the blades were meant to support the inclusion of advertisements. They did another update later on 360 to match the Windows 10 aesthetic they were going for, and from there, I guess it carried over onto Xbox One once they saw the need to update their original Xbox One menu, which had parts of it rushed after the removal of mandatory Kinect and online DRM.

I can't stand the Xbone UI. The ps4 UI is far better imo, the switch from ps4 to XBone was horrible for me, i couldn't stand apps for every single damn thing [sp]before you ask, i switched to xbone because all my friends were on it. My ps4 was laying around collecting dust and i wanted to play w my console friends[/sp]
