It's not looking so magnificent from their point of view, eh?
Welcome to Chicago here's your complimentary beating
Looked up "Wilding".
Wilding: a slang term that refers to the practice of marauding in bands to terroize strangers and to swagger and bully "We were bored, all six of us, so we decided to go out wilding."
[editline]31st March 2013[/editline] As a Chicagoan this makes me sad.
Welcome to Chicago here's your complimentary beating
Sir, may I please have another?

[editline]31st March 2013[/editline] As a Chicagoan this makes me sad.
as also a Chicagoan I'm surprised this happened. People love joking about how the city has terrible crime rates but seriously it's not bad in the middle of the city, crime rates are off balance due to the south side and west super low income areas [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5e/Chicago_violent_crime_map.png[/t] IIRC Martin lives in a higher risk area, I work in that unnamed area (rosemont/park ridge) next to O'Hare up there and regularly visit the loop by myself with a giant camera strapped over my shoulder
I'm still pretty new to Chicago, but I work in the Loop and it's not bad there. Just lots of homeless people begging for change. I hear it's mostly the south side that's really fucked.
[t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5e/Chicago_violent_crime_map.png[/t]
This makes me glad I'm in Lincoln Park. I haven't faced any trouble with crime even when I'm going around the city (even that one time I took the red line up from Chinatown alone at 12:30 a.m.; not my smartest moment), but hearing about friends getting robbed or mugged makes me glad I'm in a much safer area.
Alright I've lived in Chicago all of my life and never heard of the term "wilding".
I'm still pretty new to Chicago, but I work in the Loop and it's not bad there. It's usually places like Humbolt Park or east Chicago that are the really bad areas no matter the time of day.

Girl I know had a kid missing a leg from Syria tell her how dangerous Chicago is when she went to Jordan. Heh.
For the record I live in McKinley Park.

Wow, I was in Chicago Friday and Saturday, doing some shopping and such, the South Side is the worst, but I stayed up near Water Tower and the Hancock building. (Had lunch there, the view was fucking perfect on a cloudless day.) Every big city has it's shitty suburbs/districts, just avoid them, and you'll have a great time.
chicago's bad, but it ain't no detroit.
Here's a cool site I found about Chicago's crime statistics in 2013. It is updated everyday. http://www.heyjackass.com/ And I also happen to live smack-dab in the middle of some bad neighborhoods. My neighorhood is relatively peaceful, probably the only good neighborhood in the South side. The worst you see is some tagging and that's about it. But the others around mine, you can tell how shit they are. I live here. The surrounding areas are red as shit because that's what they are: shit. I was driving down Ashland a few nights ago. At first, you see all the nice and clean-looking buildings, grocery store chains, fast food restaurants, clean gas stations, etc. and then, once you pass Pershing, everything becomes extremely ghetto and dirty. Also, in Chinatown, once you pass under the Red line bridge out of Chinatown, it's a whole other world. I say that in a bad way. Oh, and speaking of crimes, I was hanging out friends Friday night down in the super South side. We were parked at this restaurant my friend worked in, waiting for his brother to get out of work. His brother worked as the drive-thru window guy. Then we saw some drug deal happen right in front of us. It was so conspicuous that it was hilarious. This guy in a white SUV stopped to pay for the food, then a blue minivan behind him drove out of the waiting line, drove right up next him, they exchanged money and a small bag of drugs, and the dealer drives off. My friend's brother was just standing there in the drive-thru window waiting for them to finish the deal and he's like, "This is awkward. Do I say something? Better not. They'll kill me if I do." And this one time I was in the Red line subway waiting for my train. This black chick was suggestively posing in front of a video camera her boyfriend was holding. I thought, "At least she isn't going to do anything dumb like flash her breasts or anything." She then proceeded to flash her breasts at everyone on the platform. Fuckin' Chicago, man.
I feel like the butt of jokes because I'm from Chicago and live in Detroit .-.

At least he still gave them a thrashing, heard some pretty hefty twangs from the metal bat and those guys weren't even armed though? Why would you randomly harass people in a back alley and not expect to mess with the wrong person eventually
And sometimes when you go out 'wilding', people get sick of your shit and this happens: I'm not really surprised this is about Chicago, it's not really the nicest place to be.
My faith in humanity was lost at the beginning, then brought back to a raging crescendo during the middle, but at the end when he loses his grip it falls again. I'm no fan of violence, but if you are stupid enough to go around a violent city terrorizing random strangers for no reason then it would be completely justified if one of the people you threaten and beat up took out a gun and shot you. You can be an absolute saint in every other aspect of life, but doing that one very stupid thing is just asking to be put down. That place must have the most stupid people on the planet- even here in South Carolina people are smart enough to assume that everyone else is carrying a gun on them.
I can understand the guy not thinking straight, but who the fuck throws their only advantage at their enemy
It probably just slipped out. With all the adrenaline pumping through him, I probably would lose it too.
