This is full of win. I wish one of my teachers did something this cool.
I don't think it would help me learn during that session, but oh man, I would absolutely respect that teacher afterwards. That's some dedication for his students.
This is incredibly cool. That's dedication to making sure the students have a good time, right there. I mean, slightly bad line delivery aside-that's a clever way of earning the student's respect. The only foreseeable issue could be that they'd be too distracted to learn much, but the joke was temporary and didn't seem to carry on throughout the whole lesson. [editline]20th June 2013[/editline] Good on him.
One of my teachers in high school did this. He was sick for a day so he recorded the entire lesson for the day and let the video roll while the sub got to chill in his chair for the whole class. It was pretty awesome.
i heard they do this in japan
I think it would be good if teachers actually did record lessons. Nothing beats being taught by your teacher and if you had a load of teaching videos from your teacher when it came to revising for exams, it would help so much.

See this is what professor's need to do. make the course interesting if they want their kids to take part and actually learn. My biology professor always referenced movies (even though they weren't realistic). Such as I am legend and what could happen if we create a virus to kill off another virus and such.
one time one of my teachers recorded himself while he was busy with some family thing. During the beginning he said "Ok, everyone please be quiet even though i'm not actually there". The loud kid keeps talking anyway and then tv says "even you, [loud kid]" and everyone was like OHHH SHITTTT
Have none of you realized that at the end of the video, that dude in the computer pretty much killed himself?
Or you could just fail your students if they dont show up for class. Teachers shouldnt have to earn the respect of their students unless the teacher is pretty horrible. Students should show up ready to pay attention and be respectful. Good video though

I had a teacher once, He was an Indian art teacher but he's a really cool guy, He would joke around at times and he would invite us over to his place to study. At his place he would have bought beer and cigarettes for us and we would smoke and drink beer together and just hang and talk about art and shit. And sometimes we would just go to his place and hang, drinking beer and smoking cigs and stuff. Pretty cool guy. Also he would treat us food whenever he has a birthday or if we get good grades in our exams.

We had this kid in our class named Ronnie, and he'd always talk. Half way through the tape, he started to protest with the sub about how dumb it was to listen to a tape, and you heard the teacher stop on the tap and yell "RONNIE, SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP, NOW".

They hurt themselves by missing the lesson and waste money at the same time. You get what you pay for, might as well show up.
