Agree or Disagree with him?
Late 2000s/2010s pop is trashy, definitely. 80s/90s pop, not that much.
Late 2000s/2010s pop is trashy, definitely. 80s/90s pop, not that much.
Only because the shit faded into obscurity and we only remember the good. Just like our kids are going to be saying "2030s pop is terrible, 2010s pop is so much better" because they'll only know about the decent popular artists from our time.
80s/90s pop, not that much.
Man, how are those nostalgia goggles?
Man, how are those nostalgia goggles?
Well back then there still had to be effort, computers weren't really that powerful then up until the mid 90s to be able to do things he touched on like autotuning to shit.

If you think pop music these days is a scam, look up those guys.
I don't really care about his opinion because he makes worse music anyway
I don't mind people listening to it as much as the money it makes with such little effort. I feel bad for music school kids who have to work shitty jobs so they can spend a small portion of their week doing what they actually went to school for.
Corey Taylor's opinion on pop music is pretty hilarious considering this shitty almost pop-rock song he did.
Agree or Disagree with him?
Totally agreed. I have been blasting Slipknot lately in my car on the way to work, it's so much better than most of the trash these days. I'm going to their show later this month, I'm pumped!
I highly disagree This shit is the bomb
I like my nostalgic goggles thank you very much. I have no beef with music since it's art and subjective. I mean, that's like calling Jackson Pollock lazy. Who cares how easy it is to make if people like it.
People need to understand pop music =/= popular music. There are very real and very emotional pop songs still being written by very underground people with little to no production value behind it.

Like listen to literally anything in this search query and tell me there is no emotion behind it and that it is just "autotuned over produced garbage." It is very much pop music but it is not popular music.
I'm getting really sick of this bandwagon that rock and metal artists jump on with pop music being shit. I'm a metalhead at heart, but I love me some Katy Perry and Taylor Swift as well. Stop caring so much about the means of which the content was created and just embrace what your ears like to hear.
Corey Taylor complimented Justin Bieber and called him talented before, why the u-turn? Oh right he's realizing that he's irrelevant now.
Taylor Swift, okay, but Katy Perry? Come on.
Teenage Dream is a banger

Its funny because Slipknot has Sampler and a DJ in the band. I Seriously don't get this whole "COMPUTERSHIT ISNT REAL MUSIC" Bandwagon. Everytime I hear the argument be it online, or on the streets it always turns out to be some kid that it t400ly brootal. And then they'll generalize an entire genre of music with cheap and generic artists who probably cant write their own music, completely disregarding everyone else.
Teenage Dream is a banger
California Girls are unforgivable.
In response to OP, I disagree with Corey Taylor. Music is an art-form and therefore subjective. Just because you don't like a certain genre of music (or even more specific, a certain band/artist) doesn't give you the right to say that the genre you don't like "isn't real music". In other words, I dislike music elitism (which isn't just present among metalheads). Though I am not going to get all froth at the mouth angry if someone does make an elitist opinion and just spew insults (because obviously I would be acting just as childish and elitist as the original person).
California Girls are unforgivable.
take that back
I agree to a certain extent, but I like a lot of pop-ish music way more than both Stone Sour and Slipknot, but then I like other bands like Rammstein and Marilyn Manson way more than those pop artists and bands. Depends on which artists really, but I won't go as far as to say ALL pop is uninspired and shitty.
I highly disagree This shit is the bomb
There's good and bad examples in every genre, but I can't disagree with him that pop as a whole is pretty gross. Obligatory counter-example of bad song that shows no heart, feeling, emotion, or effort.
Taylor Swift, okay, but Katy Perry? Come on.
yeah Carly Bae Jepsen is way better.
Lady Gaga best pop artist.
Lady Gaga best pop artist.
I'm not afraid to say I fucking love her and Justin Timberlake.
take that back
That song is like my ears are passing kidney stones.
