Pretty sure the people waiting in line decided to get a wii u now.

I quote the dude who sold me the Wii U "You're the first and last to get a Wii U congrats"
The Wii U is selling about as well as a brick to the face.
I mean, the PS4 outsold the Wii U's first week of sales in half a day.
There's gonna be the christmas bump and the new Mario, but sales will whittle off again.

Fat chance. The Wii U is the only console right now that isn't shit (like the Xbox One) or has no games (like the PS4). Its first year went poorly because it had no games, but now it does.

The only thing the Wii U has going for it right now is a better library of games. Both the PS4 and Xbox One are superior in basically every other way, especially hardware. If the Xbone is a shit console, so is the Wii U.

You say that, yet the Wii won last gen in terms of overall sales and the 3DS is beating the Vita so badly it isn't even funny. The Wii was barely more powerful than the generation before it, and the 3DS has nothing on the Vita's hardware.
Thus, when it comes down to it, software > hardware.

Yeah, and so far the 3rd party support for the Wii U is basically nonexistent, and many are not even aware of that it exists.
And the Wii sold for so much less than the PS3 and Xbox 360 that it's not even funny. At the same time, it included Wii Sports which was a major selling point. Sure, people bought it for Zelda and whatnot, but families bought it for Wii Sports.
And if we're talking about the OS itself, the Xbone and PS4 are much superior in that department as well.

At least he got the Zelda one, that thing is beautiful.

What's funny is that people don't actually realize the Wii U can do things that are pretty similar to what the PS4 and Xbox One can do when it comes to features.
The Wii U has remote play and while it's not to the same degree as what PS4's remote play with the whole wifi thing it doesn't require you to buy a seperate handheld system to use the feature. And as for the Xbox One the Wii U is able to control your TV and DVR with the gamepad. Sure you can't watch two things at once but the TVii Sports will display all the the scores of all the ongoing sports games and tell you have channels you have are showing which game, plus on top of that you can still have the game shown on your TV while you play pretty much whatever Wii U title you want.
The Wii U is basically combining some of the "major" PS4 and Xbox One features and puts them into one box in their most basic form, minus live streaming but you can still watch Twitch streams on the Wii U through your TV or the Gamepad.
And before someone mentions dvds, who really uses those when Netflix and Amazon video is available on every possible platform?

Yeah, so the argument is that the Wii U is almost up to par or what? The guy said it was the only good console with any games, while I'd argue that it's simply a mediocre console whose only differentiating trait is that it has good games (despite the lack of third party support). But while the hardware isn't going to get any better, the PS4 and Xbone will catch up swiftly on the game side.
And no joke - the Wii U gamepad is actually more expensive than the PS Vita here in Denmark. Sure, you can get the pro controller, but that price is just thoroughly ridiculous. Sure, Denmark's not a big market, but Nintendo needs to step it up regardless.
When it comes to features the Wii U is almost on par with the PS4 and Xbox One seeing as it combines features from both consoles. Oh, and the Gamepad is included with the console, and no one is (or should be) selling the Gameplad seperately.
The Wii U is a magnificent dust collector.
The Wii U is a magnificent dust collector.
It's good at doing that if you buy it and have no interest in the games for it. Which would then lead to question as to why you buy one if you have in interest in its games.

Really? What does the PS4/Xbone OS have that the Wii U doesn't? Other than shitty voice controls, that is. More to the point, who cares? You buy a console for games, if you want to watch Netflix/YouTube/Twitch on your TV, get a $40 Android TV stick.
And there are already plenty of third party games for the Wii U, so I have no idea what you're rambling on about. I'll give you that on the Wii's low cost, but again, it just goes to show that at the end of the day, software is what sells a console, not hardware. Right now, the PS4 has no memorable games, and the Xbox has only two or three on top of a shitty console.
Meanwhile, the Wii U has:
- Bayonetta 2 (third party exclusive)
- Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (exclusive)
- Super Mario 3D World (exclusive)
- Nintendo Land (exclusive)
- Mario & Sonic Olympics (exclusive)
- Adventure Time (third party)
- CoD: Ghosts (third party)
- Sonic Lost World (3DS/Wii U exclusive, third party)
- Assassin's Creed 4 (third party)
- Batman Arkham Origins (third party)
- Deus X HR Director's Cut (third party)
- Scribblenauts (third party)
- Wonderful 101 (third party exclusive)
- Rayman Legends (third party)
- Splinter Cell (third party)
- Disney Infinity (third party)
- Duck Tales Remastered (third party)
- Wind Waker HD (exclusive)
- Pikmin 3 (exclusive)
- Game & Wario (exclusive)
- Super Mario Bros.U (exclusive)
- Resident Evil Revelations (third party)
- Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Wii U/3DS exclusive, third party)
- Injustice Gods Among Us (third party)
- 007 Legends (third party)
- Ninja Gaiden 3, Razor's Edge (third party)
- ZombiU (third party, exclusive)
- Mass Effect 3 (third party)
- Dark Sider's 2 (third party)
- CoD Black Ops II (third party)
- Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed (third party)
- Epic Mickey 2 (third party)
Along with tons of digital download games, ports from older consoles, and various other retail games not worth mentioning.
I knew from the moment this thread started that this would happen.

So now it does have games and it's still not selling well at all, and each day more exclusives don't come out is another day for MS/Sony to catch up on their software library

The good multiplat titles, good hardware and lack of reliance on a huge gimmick that's not working as well as the Wii's did
I'd buy a Wii U when the third party games start coming and aren't just the 360 version with touch gimmicks shoehorned in.
It's good at doing that if you buy it and have no interest in the games for it. Which would then lead to question as to why you buy one if you have in interest in its games.
Its not that I dont have intereset.
Its that its been out for about a year now, and is just now starting to get decent games.
I mean, theres a lot to look forward too with the Wii U now, but as of right now I barely touch the thing.

The Gamepad is less of a gimmick than stupid voice commands.

I'll get back to you tomorrow (it's late as shit here in Denmark), but here: http://wiiudaily.com/2013/10/gamecube-wii-u-comparison/
The fact of the matter is that the Wii U is selling like shit, shipping not even half of what the 360 is doing, and little less than a third of what the PS3 is doing.
Sure, if you enjoy the games for the Wii U, get it, but with what we're seeing now, I wouldn't be surprised if third-parties moved even further away from it. For the general consumer, it's not that interesting, and even if that doesn't have any implications for your enjoyment directly, it will over time indirectly influence you. If it isn't selling, devs won't bother porting games to it, which means Nintendo will have to do all the heavy lifting themselves, and at some point (as there's a finite number of Nintendo fans) it won't be economically viable for them to do so.

Then you should have waited for some more that games that you found interesting to be out.
I got one at launch as was able to very entertained with what games have come out over the past year.

Blame the devs for that. They're the one being lazy and giving Wii U owners no reason to buy their games.

What if your gamepad breaks? I'm just pointing out that Nintendo is charging a ridiculous fee for a gamepad with a resistive touchscreen. And remember, you agreed with a post saying this:
Fat chance. The Wii U is the only console right now that isn't shit (like the Xbox One) or has no games (like the PS4). Its first year went poorly because it had no games, but now it does.
Which implies that it has feature or hardware parity with said console. Being almost up to par with the Xbone would mean it's supposedly even more shit than that.
Or would you argue that the only reason to buy the Wii U is to play Nintendo titles? Because then we'd totally agree, and I'd understand you fully.

You should blame Nintendo, though. They haven't done the marketing for the console (personally haven't seen a single ad or console so far), so why should devs give a shit really?
The Gamepad is less of a gimmick than stupid voice commands.
And yet, The gamepad is much more in your face than the voice commands.
The way it was utilized in, lets say Sonic Lost World, really ruined the pace for me. I guess it could work in some cases, but I haven't been enjoying it so far.
I just hope that Smash 4 doesn't use the gamepad at all. This thing would be horrid for a fighting game.

I didn't buy it.
Buying consoles at launch is always a bad idea.
Oh there are good games on the Wii U right now, I just happened to already own and beaten them on the Ps3 about a year ago.
My reason for supporting the Wii U (and PS4) is the first party titles. Third party titles are nice when done properly, but the second party titles that out and coming out have been very good so far.
I find the Xbox One to be the least valuable of the three next gen consoles because of its weak first party titles, the apparent reliance of micro-transactions in AAA games, the forced Kinect peripherial, and my Wii U can do the DVR thing too (even though it's not as fancy), and all the third party titles (and Titanfall) I can get on other platforms.

I think the thing that scared me off the Xbone was those god awful policies they started out with.
I mean I know most of them were taken out, but they honestly thought those were a good idea. Makes me scared about what else they might decide to force later.
No. Blame both. Nintendo is failing to advertise but the devs aren't helping. If they want sales then make a port that is good. Halfassing it on the Wii U and them removing features and still charge full price gives Wii U owners no reason to buy the game.
It's technically everyone's fault.
As I said, yes the Wii U didn't do well in its first year. This is mainly because it didn't have memorable games that made the console worth it (e.g. like the PS4 currently).
However, sales of the Wii U are sky rocketing as of late with all the great new games coming out.
No, on terms of hardware, it isn't as powerful as the Xbox One. But based on the fiasco that the Xbox One is, I'm sure everyone can imagine why I personally believe it to be a shitty console.
You could argue that the GamePad is a gimmick, but I'd disagree. It offers a genuine new and interesting aspect to some games that otherwise would only be possible with multiple consoles/PCs over the internet (e.g. games that involve multiple viewpoints, like the Luigi's Mansion and Yoshi's Cart mini games in Nintendo Land). Some games use it to get rid of split screen play when two people are playing. It's very useful in that regard. Otherwise, games can just use it to clear the GUI off the screen. Blame the devs if they shoehorn shitty touch screen controls where they don't belong, because as far as I've seen, Nintendo hasn't done that.
Or would you argue that the only reason to buy the Wii U is to play Nintendo titles? Because then we'd totally agree, and I'd understand you fully.
It's a valid argument, but at this point, I couldn't tell ya. All I know is right now, the Wii U has games, and the PS4 doesn't. There's plenty of reasons not to get an Xbox One as well.
What I'm saying is the Wii U isn't as bad as everyone likes to make it seem.

Blame Sega/Sonic team for that. It's not like anyone expects a Sonic game to be good nowadays anyways. I haven't seen any Nintendo games or very many games at all use the gamepad like that. Smash certainly won't use it, and it'll have Pro Controller support as would be expected. A lot of the third party games let you ditch the gamepad all together for the Pro Controller. Even Wind Waker HD does. That said, when used correctly, it's a pretty good thing to have.
