Trump signs executive order reversing workplace protections for women.
With little notice, President Donald Trump recently signed an executive order that advocates say rolls back hard-fought victories for women in the workplace.
Tuesday's "Equal Pay Day" — which highlights the wage disparity between men and women — is the perfect time to draw more attention to the president's action, activists say.
On March 27, Trump revoked the 2014 Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces order then-President Barack Obama put in place to ensure that companies with federal contracts comply with 14 labor and civil rights laws. The Fair Pay order was put in place after a 2010 Government Accountability Office investigation showed that companies with rampant violations were being awarded millions in federal contracts.
In an attempt to keep the worst violators from receiving taxpayer dollars, the Fair Pay order included two rules that impacted women workers: paycheck transparency and a ban on forced arbitration clauses for sexual harassment, sexual assault or discrimination claims.
Am I reading this correctly? Sexual harassment and assault claims could (and will again be) forced to be settled through arbitration?

That's the way it was before Obama's order, that's what we'll be going back to.
Some people here are less equal than others.
He and the other Republicans don't give a shit about any progressive action in this country. If it's got Obama's signature on it, it's evil and needs to be repealed!
I see Trump's 'April 2017 National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month' is coming along swimmingly.
Making America great by peeling away protections one (or ten) at a time.
We're on our way to the return of company towns and moustache-twirling fatcats presiding over factories where children die. But at least a Clinton didn't get elected!

I mean, you're talking about a guy that bragged about grabbing women by the pussy. It's not like he gives a shit about them.
This is thoroughly disgusting and I'm surprised it's not getting more heavily reported on. How do you defend this shit?
Just about to sign off America as a third world country.
Trump can go to Hell.
I don't understand, does this guy just want to kill everything Obama put in place? This makes me so angry...

That was my first thought reading this. It's hilarious how he claims he's for women when he does stuff like this, among many other things.
I wonder how female Trump supporters feel about this.

Not the smartest activists, giving everyone ammo against them by talking about the thouroughly debunked wage gap shit next to a very real issue of workplace rights.

I imagine they'll deny that there's a problem, and that it's just useless liberal regulations that cost jobs or something. Never underestimate the human power to say that nothing's wrong.

Remember those pictures of Trump Supporters with the shirts that said "grab me by the pussy!" and shit? Yeah, I don't think they care.

that was pretty much the republican election platform yeah

It's pretty easy when inconvenient things such as reality and facts are considered irrelevant.

Even in the adjusted model there's still about a 5-7% difference, which isn't statistically insignificant.
What a shit show.
Every action he takes this month undermines what he declared this month to be and yet I'm sure not a single supporter will question this for long enough to actually shake their support.
America won't be great for a long time.

If ever. Partisan politics are only going to get worse, and we're seeing a slide now into supermajority rule. This might be the edge of the cliff, it's going to take a lot of work to climb back up. I'm not sure that's something you can do on such short political cycles, especially if they're spending more time tearing each other apart than building the country up.

I'm pretty sure that's all it is. I don't think Trump is malicious enough to revoke the order because he felt like it, and as far as I'm aware there isn't a big push on the right to limit women in the workplace. It's really just about tearing down Obama's legacy.
The good news (for Obama) is that he is being contrasted with Trump and is currently doing much better than the latter.

forced arbitration is another modern innovation to abuse workers, y
and consumers like LLCs, you can't opt out of them in almost every case and you can't usually break them either so you're totally screwed out of your rights. theres never not a reason to toss it into any agreement these days since theres no regulations on them either.
Let's hope he doesn't find a note written by Obama sayng "oxygen is good".
Impeach this bastard.
Can you get impeached for incompetence?
Can you get impeached for incompetence?
Not when the majority of Congress is deepthroating you, no
But why?
This is thoroughly disgusting and I'm surprised it's not getting more heavily reported on. How do you defend this shit?
It's not being reported on because of the North Korea situation. I wouldn't be surprised if Trump is inflaming things there on purpose, just to distract everyone from his backwards policies.
But why?
Gotta grab them pussies.
But why?
I'm sure it's totally not because he has a vested interest in getting away with sexual harassment in the workplace.
man the office is just signing anything conservative at this point, like a college hazing ritual lol
