These arguments always tend to annoy me. I'm not saying there's no weight to the points in the video, but it always seems to encourage lazy people into thinking that they're completely blameless for bad results, and that the school doesn't understand their special snowflake needs. Granted, the education system is flawed, but getting good exam results shows that you can work hard, which is something employers generally look for.
It's all too obvious.

I agree with the whole "The grade on my exam doesn't mean I'm stupid" and "Just because that paper shows only my flaws doesn't mean I can't be good", always did, and how somethings in the system aren't necessary depending on what you are on but don't ever deny education to yourself, work hard for the results because you need them and never stop learning. Don't just assume school is bad and useless. Be clever with your life choices, don't pressure yourself, you'll end up having really hard times like I'm having. And following Hiccuper's words, don't be fucking lazy.
yuck people who think you need 90%+ in courses and programs to make decent money in the future don't know how to make proper money
it always seems to encourage lazy people into thinking that they're completely blameless for bad results, and that the school doesn't understand their special snowflake needs.
people arent born lazy if theyre lazy or unmotivated theres a reason theres a rational reason for every action a person does. the words "special snowflake" shouldnt even come up. and i dont see the point of the concept of blame in the first place. blaming a lazy person for being lazy doesnt fix their laziness.

"I will not let an exam result decide my fate" then maybe you should have studied harder. Most people who go on and on about how they're super smart but don't do the reviews or the work sheets because they're "boring" and "I'm ahead of it" think that school tests should not show how much they know. I get what they're saying in the video but the whole "why am I learning this when I'm never going to use it" thing is dumb. I'm guessing he's refering to Highschool where they teach you a wide variety of subjects that give you basic knowledge and the building blocks for more advanced studies in University.

I was horrible at it. I went on to study biology, chemistry, and actually found it interesting. In that class I succeeded in getting near 80%'s. It really depends on what interests the person. Though, I wish I pursued in that field. But I knew once I got up higher, it would require math skills as well, which I didn't have. So.. All in all, an exam can't dictate what a person actually is, because they can succeed in one thing, but utterly fail in another. Can't just judge a person because they failed at one thing, if they fail at multiple things, let them decide what they can succeed at. Of course, encouragement to go into a difficult field such as mathematics is not a bad idea, still.

I never got it until it was teach to me in a different way now I have my own techniques on how to solve problems. If someone doesn't get something and they've studied then they need to be taught with a different style. I'm fairly certain everyone can do advanced marh if they're taught a certain way.

I would attempt to get after school teachings, but most of the teachers would shrug it off. I'm not going to go into a whole deduction of why I failed in math and school together, but teachers being poor to their students and being physically harassed, doesn't help altogether.
I wouldn't exactly call myself lazy or stupid. There's just nothing for me to do when I'm not in class or at work. Having this lack of activity has got me unmotivated and whatever. When I was doing the exams, I was stressed out, because I had to repeat the year, and I couldn't afford to repeat a grade ever again in my life. I didn't need to study for the estonian exam, because I did the mockery exam, and I looked at my teacher's comments and looked at where I fucked up and where I was just stupid, and I pretty much avoided doing those and followed the instructions. That came out as a B I fucked up the math's exam, because I told myself that if that went to hell, it didn't matter, because I'd graduate either way, but I was just 3 points off from getting a C. I felt like I was the scum of the earth and hated myself for it. I went as far to even hurt myself, because I could never forgive myself if I ever let this shit slow me down anymore. My teachers had some extra classes, where we went over all the exam materials, and I pretty much got the basics. Still, after I was home trying to calm myself with animes and video games, my mother and sister kept yelling at me to study, but I couldn't learn the subject, because I had it all down already, and all I did was just look at the book. When the exam finally came around, I put absolutely every single piece of effort into it. I realised I have fucked up at some places and the teachers might have counted those as mistakes, but still ended up getting a C at the end. Seriously, if my kind of retard can pull something off like passing an exam, then everyone could do it. Just use logic and put all of your effort into it. "JUST DO IT." - Nike
I've done shockingly below average pretty much throughout my entire education, I didn't get the grades to get into university either, but now I'm about to start my last year there and then dive into the games industry. (hopefully)
How the? The exam consisted of basically 7th grade maths! Not ONE subject from the 9th grade was ever included in this year's exam. Every one I know in my school didn't get lower than a low B, but I guess it really varies from person to person. I personally think I'm bad at maths and got every singe quarter a C, but the exam was a cakewalk. (Ma reaalselt arvasin, et see eksam oli mingite Kopli Kellukooli ossidele kohendatud, aga whadayaknow)
Music is my passion and I hate how the high school education system is steering away from it, focusing more on math, reading, and writing. I'm terrible at math, never cared for it either. However I can sit down and write a decent rough draft of a song in a good hour and a half. I learn about the things I care about. Hell a lot of what I know comes from questioning something and deciding to look it up myself.

Like, really really shitty. I was really behind when I started my physics course and had to basically relearn all of math from algebra to trig. I went to see a tutor and he straight up said to my face that I didn't deserve to be in college. I wound up having the highest grade in the physics class that semester. Some of it is having bad teachers, but I'll admit that some of it is pushing yourself to get it done when nobody else is willing to. It's possible to succeed even when the odds are stacked against you.
Results don't correlate to effort though, My friend is having to resit his last year at high school cause he failed or did shit in everything, yet he's the one who revised his arse off for the exams while I turn up having only glanced at a few pages and get into university. First year of uni was laughably easy compared to the stuff in highschool that qualified me for Uni in the first place.
any of you guys ever heard of cheating that kinda shows how letting a test show your skills is kinda flawed

I've always been bad at it but when I was pretty young my teacher made fun of me for being bad at maths/ not knowing the answers to his questions when he asked/ being wrong every time I put my hand up. This pretty much scarred me and made me actually scared of asking for help in fear of being embarrassed of being really wrong and looking even dumber, so it spiralled and now I'm fucking terrible at maths.
