Jeff, a down on his luck office worker finds out he is the last living relative of horror novelist H.P. Lovecraft. What he doesn't know is that Lovecraft's monsters are real and will soon threaten the very existence of mankind. Jeff and his best friend Charlie are forced to embark on a perilous adventure and they enlist the help of high school acquaintance, Paul, a self proclaimed Lovecraft specialist. Together the three unlikely heroes must protect an alien relic and prevent the release of an acient evil, known as Cthulhu.
Just have to say, this looks extremely awesome and hilarious. I'm having difficulty working out why this is a problem.
Why is it that a bunch of bored nerds with video cameras can create better film adaptations of H.P. Lovecraft's works than Hollywood?

Dude, 'Dagon' was an awesome representation of 'the Shadow Over Innsmouth'. The few differences can be forgiven.

Agreed.
^0mKTank, do you have some feeling of superiority that will dissipate as soon as other people find out about Lovecraft?
Personally, I like to introduce people to his stories.
Cthulu
!!!
Alright, that was retarded... but fucking awesome as well.
Not how I see Cthulhu mythos monster, but it looks entertaining enough.
So is this intended to be funny?

No, you clearly don't have idiots this bad in your town.
I seriously feel that they don't deserve to see shit like this or even play games. When MW2 came out they bought a copy and all I heard about all day long was how 1337 they are, they act and talk like damn 12 year olds, and have the IQ and vocabulary of one too.
If they actually appreciated it that would be one thing, but I can guarantee you that if they ever see a picture of Cthulhu they'll talk about it 24\7 and make references to it whenever possible.
Note how I said see the picture, because if they even attempted to read one of Lovecraft's works they would immediately get bored and go shoot rubberbands at each other from or make spitballs out of the book.

I think it's because Lovecraft needs someone who can think outside the box to be adapted to a movie.
Think about it. Even 'Lovecraftian' type movies, like Alien and The Thing, are basically standard monster movies.
Direct, Hollywood style adaptations aren't really that great. In the Mouth of Madness, Dagon, stuff like that. It's alright but not awesome like one of the stories. That's because they are too literal.
What is needed is someone with a completely fresh perspective. That's why nerds with cameras can do better sometimes. They don't know how to do things, or can't afford to do things, the Hollywood way. They have to approach it differently and sometimes that pays off.
It doesn't look funny to me, at all. I guess it's just the indie feel or something but it looks like they just ran around recording stuff while having some of the creatures from the Lovecraft mythos randomly in it.
And the roadtrip comedy story, it's been done to death.
