Jesus Lara, who only started to learn to swim two months ago, rescued the child from the pool at Estancia Apartments in Plano, Missouri, last Friday. The fast-acting boy spotted something at the bottom of the pool, hastily put his goggles on, dived down and recovered the child. Jesus told WFAA: 'I grabbed my goggles, I looked and it turned out to be a 21-month old baby at the bottom of the pool.' Jesus carried the child to the side of the pool where his father Henry performed CPR. The baby's mother was hysterical after seeing her child, who is believed to have slipped into the water, blue and unresponsive. The emergency services arrived and took over care of the 21-month-old, who came round to consciousness on the way to the hospital. The baby managed to made a full recovery thanks to the Laras and is now doing well at home. Jesus has only lived in Plano for about two months and in that time his father has been teaching him to swim in their apartment swimming pool. 'I'm very proud of him,' Mr Lara said. 'He reacted the way a lot of adults wouldn't know how to act.' The Plano Fire Department recognised Jesus's life-saving skills and awarded him with a medal at Plano Fire Station yesterday. In addition, the boy - who is a Dallas Cowboys fan - was given a VIP tour of the fire station and a certificate of heroism. And there was one more surprise - a WFAA viewer who saw Jesus's heroics offered seats in his suite for the entire Lara family for a Cowboy's game.
Looks like Jesus did it again.
Amazing.
The kids name is Jesus? For fuck sake...
"hastily put his goggles on"
There is a drowning child and he stops to put his goggles on? Well at least he got to the child in time.
Turn out he put the kid there for the fame and of course the chicks that heroism comes with.
a 21-month old baby at the bottom of the pool.
I can't imagine that
There is a drowning child and he stops to put his goggles on? Well at least he got to the child in time.
He put his goggles on in order to identify what was there, he did not realize it was a child until after he put his goggles on.
What kind of idiot would call their child Jesus? Still, it's good that the boy and his father saved the child anyway.
What kind of idiot would call their child Jesus? Still, it's good that the boy and his father saved the child anyway.
Uhh, isn't Jesus a Hispanic name?
What kind of idiot would call their child Jesus? Still, it's good that the boy and his father saved the child anyway.
Jesus is a popular personal name in the Hispanic Christian sphere of influence (where it is spelled with an accented'u' Jesús and pronounced xeˈsus)
Uhh, isn't Jesus a Hispanic name?
Well, I live in the UK so I wouldn't really know, but I don't remember ever seeing anybody called Jesus in any kind of media except for the obvious reference to the Jesus of the bible.
Jesus is a popular personal name in the Hispanic Christian sphere of influence (where it is spelled with an accented'u' Jesús and pronounced xeˈsus)
Isn't it normally pronounced 'hey-soos'? I just realized how much that sounds like you're greeting Zeus. Being in a non-spanish country is not an excuse.
Whoopsalot - x represents the sound 'ch' or 'h' like the 'h' in Ahmad. (English doesn't reall have this sound)
At least now when people say "I just thank Jesus the baby was saved", they'll actually be crediting the person who did all the work.
my dad saved a guy from drowning. man never thanked him i hope he's dead.
Wow the kid is able to determine the age of the baby just from seeing him with his goggles under water.
Where were the child's parents? You don't leave your 1 year old kid alone in a pool.
you know this was all in north texas the local news is making such a big deal out of it when lifeguards do this same shit everyday
What kind of idiot would call their child Jesus? Still, it's good that the boy and his father saved the child anyway.
Jesus is a spanish name. Hey sus. Not Jesus.
why the hell would anyone leave a baby unattended at a fucking swimming pool?!
Never mind that the kid saved him, how did the baby end up in the pool in the first place?
Well, I live in the UK so I wouldn't really know, but I don't remember ever seeing anybody called Jesus in any kind of media except for the obvious reference to the Jesus of the bible.
Damn it must feel good being ignorant. If I wanted to get religious on this matter, I'd have to say he did what God would hope from us.
you know this was all in north texas the local news is making such a big deal out of it when lifeguards do this same shit everyday
It's an 8 year old who saved a baby who would have drowned if he didn't, that doesn't happen every day.
