Don Caballero, or Don Cab as their three fans call them,
are a rock group from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They are often categorized as math rock, though the band dislikes this label. The group took their name from the character Guy Caballero, portrayed by Joe Flaherty, on the sketch comedy show Second City Television. In SCTV's parody of the film The Godfather, Guy Caballero is called "Don Caballero." Don Caballero (affectionately called "Don Cab" or "The Don" by fans) formed in the summer of 1991, released five albums on Touch and Go Records between 1993 and 2000, then disbanded in November 2000. Drummer Damon Che recruited new personnel for a reconstituted Don Caballero in 2003 which has released two albums on Relapse Records.
I would categorize Don Cab as experimental music with a bang. Sure they occasionally dabble with roomy pastels, but these often degenerate into good old-fashioned Post-Rock grinds and "THRaK's". The three members that were there during their best album, American Don, are: Damon Che - Drummer: weird looking guy in the middle Ian Williams - Guitar: damon che can be seen in the background, also plays for battles now Eric Emm - Bass: bass players never get the spot-light Don Cab is instrumental at its core, which means that any kind of emotion comes through the music. This make Don Cab a "challenging" listen, but it has an enormous impact behind the scenes so something must have been done right. Some Samples: There are all "amateur" recordings, there's a reason why they never broke out in mainstream. Don Caballero did definitely kick ass. I love how the same guitar style sort of made a comeback in Battles. I just really hope they will release some new Battles songs soon. Mirrored, B EP and EP C are getting kind of boring to hear over and over again.
Don Cab are pretty good
i dislike very much the first song... the others are ok..
At first I thought 'this is a load of random bull crap' but it's growing on me.
Meh, does sound like Battles indeed. Now about the info on ICEMAN?! :v:
Why is the bassist playing a strat? [editline]07:31PM[/editline] In the picture, I mean. [editline]07:32PM[/editline] On another note, I wish I checked these guys out sooner. mfba
