For the past month i've been using this drug (anbesol) to stop the pain in my gums when I eat food but after the month of using it i've noticed that food tastes really metallic and I get pretty bad headaches if I stop using it, which isn't a problem because I usually feel a bit euphoric when I use the stuff and I like the numb feeling of my gums.
Besides the point I can easily buy this stuff anytime I want just wondering if there was a better drug that I could use to get off this one because I really like the numb feeling but I want something a bit stronger and less metallic tasting food thanks.
novocaine and cocaine are both related to lidocaine. I don't know if novocaine is any stronger (I think dentists use it so probably) but cocaine certainly is.
Look up dysgustia seems to happen in some small cases with benzo users. The metallic taste is consistent with most stories. and i prefer anything with menthol in it for a sore mouth.
If i remember right benadryl also numbs the gums and it makes you high at big doses.

the "high" from benadryl is not fun. don't do it.
