UFC star Conor McGregor turned the sporting world upside down Tuesday after tweeting he has “decided to retire young.”
McGregor, who is 27, had been scheduled to rematch Nate Diaz at UFC 200 on July 9 after being upset by the challenger back at UFC 196.
Last week, McGregor reacted to former fighter Joao Carvalho’s passing after posting a statement on his Facebook page that said, “To see a young man doing what he loves, competing for a chance at a better life, and then to have it taken away is truly heartbreaking.”
Just like that?
Man that's boring
Probably a publicity stunt.
Diaz fucked him up so bad. Maybe he has medical issues we don't know about.
If he got his ass kicked by nate again then goes back down to 145 and loses to say Frankie Edgar? . If he took anymore steps his image would be more tarnished than it already is after the first nate loss. Not exactly a giant headliner anymore." Isn't that connor guy on a three fight lose streak" less people are gonna buy PPVs.
If you watch any of his early interviews he only every cared about the money. Retire rich before you get the shit kicked outta you again.
I can quite understand this, once you hit 30 it's best to get out any sports that can cause a large amount of damage to the body.
i think this might have to do with the death of his training partner a few weeks ago during a fight

That wasn't his training partner though his training partner did fight the dude who died.
Ariel Helwani, one of the more reputable UFC writers has sources saying that Conor isn't joking at all. If he does retire, good on him for having a great run, but damn he still has a ton of entertaining fights left to make.

oh shit my bad
Rumor is that Conor wanted 10 mil for the fight and the UFC rejected it so he retired. Just a rumor though.
Ayy it turns out Conor isn't retiring. Dude was basically tired of doing all of the promotional work and wanted to focus more on training this time around so he could avenge his first loss against Diaz. Sounds like he wants preferential treatment, but to be fair, he does make the UFC a ton of money whenever he's involved with the media and probably deserves to be paid more because of it.
