In an interview with South Korean news agency Yonhap, Ri Kang said he and his wife, who is the sister of Kim Jong Un's mother, defected from North Korea and applied for asylum in the United States some 20 years ago for fear they'd be implicated in a power struggle when then-Supreme Leader Kim Jong Il died.
Is if you'd really need to explain your reasoning to defect from North Korea.
"Every restaurant I went to, nothing but Coca Cola. Not a single can of Pepsi."
considering they probably only have vodka, that's a big fucking deal.
Idk man. Coke tastes better than Pepsi
I usually drink Pepsi, because its flavor isn't as strong as Coke, and it's slightly cheaper too (Plus, Pepsi comes in 750ml bottles, at the same price as a 500ml Coke bottle) However, nothing beats an ice-cold Coke after a hard day.
"Every restaurant I went to, nothing but Coca Cola. Not a single can of Pepsi."
At least Kim Jong Un is doing something right.
"Every restaurant I went to, nothing but Coca Cola. I've been all over the Caribbean and Europe (I'm from the US) and it always tastes different.
Here in south korea we only have pepsi, we love pepsi so much we modelled our flag off of the pepsi logo.
SH is the only place where an article about someone defecting from north korea turns into a debate about soft drinks in only 2 posts
Asking for "In Order to Live" by Yeonmi Park for Xmas. I read some of it in a bookstore and it's really captivating. I didn't want to get Camp 14 because from what I understand, the author changes his story quite a bit and it's sort of grey on the events that actually happened inside the camp.
Hope this plan doesnt bomb for him
Pepsi is generally considered a poor man's Cola, I think.
Pepsi is generally considered a poor man's Cola, I think.
So is RC the poor man's Pepsi?
So is RC the poor man's Pepsi?
We're not allowed to talk about that particular horrible amalgamation of carbonated water and sugar.
Honestly I prefer RC to Pepsi. Plus it is cheap as fuck.

Superior soft drink imho.
Am I the only one who finds it hilarious that the thread derailed this badly? I mean it WAS about a man talking how he got out of a shithole, hell not just any man, and now its about fucking soda :v:
Softdrinks suck. Drink mineral water.

Read title think Kim himself defected to the US. That would be.. that would be unprecedented.
Read title think Kim himself defected to the US. That would be.. that would be unprecedented.
I do love reading books by NK defectors. That one by the guy who played a really important role in making propaganda but then had to defect because he gave a south korean magazine to his friend and the fuckwit left it on a train- fucking brilliant. Best thing I ever read. Super 1984 vibes when he's still in NK. But I would read the shit out of a book where Kim himself fucks up and flees from himself. Hiding in some Chinese farmers barn. "I've got to get away from Kim" he bleats at the baffled farmer.
