Financial services and investment banking firm Cowen have downgraded EA's shares in anticipation of poor Titanfall 2 sales. Though Battlefield 1 is expected to exceed forecasts, the close proximity of the two releases and the immediate release of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare are likely to impact Titanfall 2. EA were initially expecting Titanfall 2 to sell 10 million copies, while Battlefield 1 was expected to hit 15 million, both in their first year. Cowen had previously forecast 9 million sales for Titanfall, but that estimate has now been lowered to between 5 and 6 million, say Investopedia.
"We are downgrading EA shares... because we believe that 'Titanfall 2' sales are going to be substantially disappointing, enough to offset upside from 'Battlefield 1,'" analyst Doug Creutz wrote in a note to clients, via CNBC.
Way to go EA, you shoved the damn game between two goliaths in the industry and expected it to actually sell well while people's pockets were empty.
I wasn't even aware they were making Titanfall 2. I mean I knew it was going to happen because it was one of those things that X gaming company just decides is going to be a major franchise before it's even released but I didn't know the game was finished or anything.
We all know that EA isn't a very good company when it comes to smart choices. Just look at how many companies and licenses have perished under their watch.
I keep thinking the first one came out last year, didn't even realise it sold well enough for a sequel
It's a damn shame, the game's fantastic.
I was actually thinking about picking it up, the price tag is brutal, and i'm not sure why theirs no Origin Demo, at the timing on it is suspicious as fuck; i can't help but feel like they don't want it to succeed.
Real shame, the campaign is so good.
Mirror's Edge Catalyst all over again

I would wait at this point, it will likely be on sale by the end of the year in an attempt to recoup losses

that combined with literally no marketing at all past E3, it feels like they want it to fail.
I didn't even realize it was out, I thought it was still being developed.
titanfall 2 came out??
Mirror's Edge Catalyst all over again
At least people have heard of Titanfall 2.
Catalyst was hardly even advertised.
I saw a floor display self for it in a Target today and my first thought was "Its not out already, is it?"

Either way, if you're not into watching shit like E3 and paying attention to gaming news, you're not gonna know either came out.

Also doesn't help that they're Origin exclusive. I launch Steam on PC startup, not Origin. Any advertising or information they give away on that client is lost to the much smaller audience that uses Origin on launch.
Titanfall 2's campaign is so fucking good. Short but amazing.
Its the dev team doing what they do best. (Respawn is ex IW devs from the cod4 era)

i agree 100%

best set piece shooter since Reach imo, Not even COD has gotten this close with over the top levels.
Wish they had the trailers in the cinema like gears of war 4 had, that would of been so sick

Yeah, I knew it was in development but I had no idea it was releasing already. I thought it was coming out early next year or something.

[sp]BT isn't allowed to be dead. Although the after credit scene....[/sp]
Releasing this close to BF1 + the lackluster advertising has killed it.
Unrelated question, whats the star wars game respawn are making? Do we have any idea? If its a singleplayer game then i have high hopes.
Yeah, I knew it was in development but I had no idea it was releasing already. I thought it was coming out early next year.
Same here, I had had no idea this was out already.
I was torn between BF1 and Titanfall, opted for BF1 but I still want Titanfall - pushing them so close together with a 60USD tag on both is ridiculous.
Not a smart move with a simultaneous release of both BF1 and TF2
If the game didn't come out right after BF1 I probably would have bought it. If they released it later Spring 2017 it would have more time to advertise, more time to polish after the tech test (including maybe adding a couple extra maps), and wouldn't have as much fps competition.
I've only heard good things about Titanfall 2 and barely anything about BF1.
What world am I living in?
Also US$60 is CA$80 which I just find outrageous nowadays.

Holy balls, I didn't even know titanfall 2 was out, and I didn't play titanfall 1, but that looks amazing...
I knew titanfall 2 was coming but jesus fuck I can't keep up with even just a few of my games right now because everybody's having ultra limited edition content releases for halloween and I have to earn all the good shit or else I wait another year
and why are they downgrading the stock so damned fast, I'm sure the game's going to sell just fine through the next month. If anything it feels like the kind of game that should have released at the end of november
I was getting Origin Access for the BF1 trial and one of the "feature" points is that Titanfall 2 will never appear in the vault nor would their be an early access trial. Could be because of EA's unique relationship with Respawn but it just adds more to the feeling that they sort of set this game up to fail.

Has a AAA publisher ever released a full priced title the week before another, particularly of the same genre?

even cooler is [sp] an entire level that allows you to move between two timelines on a whim, so youre able to attack enemies and then go to the present, and jump back to the past in a flanked position.[/sp]
wait titanfall 2 is out? damn they botched that, i havent seen anything about it
