Hi fp, I have been playing guitar for some time but it is recently that I bought an amplifier. I plugged the guitar chord into the amplifier, like I would usually do. Everything was normal. So I keep on playing like just like any other day. My mother told me to play softer, but I couldn’t hear her so I carelessly pulled the guitar cable out of the output jacket, I then asked her to repeat herself and etc… And then shit hits the fan. Right I when I tried to put the cable back in the hole and I noticed that it was not there, it somehow sunk inside my guitar.
So now I am contemplating the idea of unscrewing the output jacket (or whatever you call it) getting the little hole shit, and putting it where it belongs. I could send my guitar for repair, but you know that costs money. Also is this really bad or just an annoyance
Thanks in advanced.
I'm not sure how to help you with that, but next time just use the volume knob on the guitar.
Can you stick a picture up of the output jack? You should hopefully be able to fix it, however you might need to take it to a tech if you've actually broken something inside the guitar.
unscrew the plate and screw the input thing back. it's no rocket science.
also pictures, i'm not exactly sure what you're talking about
I will deliver pictures since my writing is too confusing
Yeah, it depends on the type of guitar. Usually there's a panel on the back of the guitar that you can unscrew to get to the electronics, and you can get it from there. If you have a strat, then take off the little panel around the output jack and get the jack from there.
Picture/name of guitar please
Yeah, dude, just unscrew the plate, stick the jack back through, and put a nut on, since you probably lost the original. Make sure you don't move the output jack too much, as this can cause the wires on it to come loose. In the future, make sure that nut is keeping the jack in place, and use the freakin' volume pedal, or the standby switch on your amp (if it's tube; if it's solid-state, just turn the thing off).
God this happened to me multiple times, if it wasn't the jack itself slipping into the cavity it was the plate that it attaches to coming out. If it keep coming loose I suggest a little dab of JB weld on the nut. Not TOO much cause you want to be able to take it off. The jack should just be sitting in the cavity like the others said.
Rather get a pro to do it, than risk screwing it up
When my bolt gets loose this happens, but gravity usually pulls it back down and I just tighten the bolt.
Happened to me, just had to keep trying until I got it.

There are certain things you shouldn't go to a pro about and this is one of them.

I put the picture so there is no confusion of what I am talking about
I've had the problem, bring it to the local music shop they can get it out in seconds.
You don't even need to take it to a music shop. This exact thing happened to my Tele. All you have to do is unscrew the plate, and there should be a thin bold you can use to secure the jack on the inside. My Tele had one of these thin bolts for the inside and outside of the jack, but one should do the job.
I think what I did is got a thin pair of pliers, put them up there and pushed the handles outward and pulled.
Unscrew the plate and just pull it into place. Also what guitar is that?
... just unscrew that thing, pull the jack out a bit. turn the bolt of the jack output off it. put the jack trough the plate and screw the bolt back on so it's secure to the plate. then screw the plate back in.
