The agency said air pollution is the cause of about one in eight deaths and has now become the single biggest environmental health risk. “We all have to breathe, which makes pollution very hard to avoid,” said Frank Kelly, director of the environmental research group at King’s College London, who was not part of the WHO report. One of the main risks of pollution is that tiny particles can get deep into the lungs, causing irritation. Scientists also suspect air pollution may be to blame for inflammation in the heart, leading to chronic problems or a heart attack. WHO estimated that there were about 4.3 million deaths in 2012 caused by indoor air pollution, mostly people cooking inside using wood and coal stoves in Asia. WHO said there were about 3.7 million deaths from outdoor air pollution in 2012, of which nearly 90 percent were in developing countries. But WHO noted that many people are exposed to both indoor and outdoor air pollution. Due to this overlap, mortality attributed to the two sources cannot simply added together, hence WHO said it lowered the total estimate from around 8 million to 7 million deaths in 2012. The new estimates are more than double previous figures and based mostly on modeling. The increase is partly due to better information about the health effects of pollution and improved detection methods. Last year, WHO’s cancer agency classified air pollution as a carcinogen, linking dirty air to lung and bladder cancer. WHO’s report noted women had higher levels of exposure than men in developing countries
Source Millennials will have to deal with this looming future of worsening conditions of air pollution; this, like cleaner energy production, is one of the main problems humanity will HAVE to deal with head on, soon enough World Health Organization Study on Pollution
Included in the assessment is a breakdown of deaths attributed to specific diseases, underlining that the vast majority of air pollution deaths are due to cardiovascular diseases as follows:Outdoor air pollution-caused deaths – breakdown by disease: 40% – ischaemic heart disease; 40% – stroke; 11% – chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); 6% - lung cancer; and 3% – acute lower respiratory infections in children. Indoor air pollution-caused deaths – breakdown by disease: 34% - stroke; 26% - ischaemic heart disease; 22% - COPD; 12% - acute lower respiratory infections in children; and 6% - lung cancer.
well, shit
now this is what I call population control. too many of you fuckers out there, got to weed you out somehow (User was banned for this post ("Shitposting" - Megafan))
with more than half of the fatalities due to fumes from indoor stoves
This needed to be cleared up, since I can see a lot of people parading around with "Pollution is a major killer!" when infact it's improper ventilation. I mean that shit is bad, I'm someone with terrible lungs, and I live in one of the cities with the worst air quality in America; but it ain't quite a major threat yet, we aren't Beijing.
now this is what I call population control. too many of you fuckers out there, got to weed you out somehow
indoor stoves are doing god's work
Human logic: wait until millions die to take drastic measures.

One of the biggest killers during hurricanes and other natural disasters is people using lanterns and gas generators indoors.
Okay everybody ignore this guy and lets stay on topic.
killed by thread pollution, before it even had a chance :v: history of humanity™
new types of pollution forming every day
breaking: facepunch dead due to shitpost fumes, only survivors were those who were already wearing their gasmasks
breaking: facepunch dead due to shitpost fumes, only survivors were those who were already wearing their gasmasks
So in other news: most facepunchers were safe
So in other news: most facepunchers were safe
basically
breaking: facepunch dead due to shitpost fumes, only survivors were those who were already wearing their gasmasks
ive built up a natural resistance through my long history of making terrible posts.
breaking: facepunch dead due to shitpost fumes, only survivors were those who were already wearing their gasmasks
Kills off most of the rust forum at least.
I'm glad I have an electric stove then.
I'm glad I have an electric stove then.
Well I'm pretty sure you wouldn't use a fucking coal stove in a developed country. To clear up this to anyone who might have misread: the stoves mean coal and wood stoves, not the gas stoves you might be using. Burnt natural gas only releases CO2, since it's thoroughly filtered and is pretty much pure methane.
I accidentally misread the title I thought it said pollen. Dang hay fever lol
Let's start with you.
i embrace death if we can get rid of 70% of humanity. for the greater good
i embrace death if we can get rid of 70% of humanity. for the greater good
how about we start with you, and end with you, and call it a day?
how about we start with you, and end with you, and call it a day?
nah, only if you and others will follow. death by some kind of asteroid would be cool until that doesn't happen, i will be here to take a massive shit on your head [editline]26th March 2014[/editline] what are you afraid of? death? or afraid that you cant play games and check facebook anymore ? [editline]26th March 2014[/editline] are you also implying murder with ''we start with you'' ? Shiiitt, you couldn't even kill a chicken if it was asking for it (User was banned for this post ("Off-topic shitposting" - Megafan))
1 in 8 deaths caused from it.
that makes no sense though, 7 million deaths per year does not seem like 15% of the world's deaths per year [editline]26th March 2014[/editline] if anything it should be much higher
i embrace death if we can get rid of 70% of humanity. for the greater good
extreme lack of empathy I'd get myself evaluated by a professional if I were you
new types of pollution forming every day
to be fair, we've also stopped with many nastier forms of pollution like PCBs, that shit was in everything, same with nuclear fallout from testing, baby boomers' age can be determined by the radioactive particles in their bones, most of that is gone now, we still have soot as a massive problem thats only getting worse every day
nah, only if you and others will follow. death by some kind of asteroid would be cool until that doesn't happen, i will be here to take a massive shit on your head [editline]26th March 2014[/editline] what are you afraid of? death? or afraid that you cant play games and check facebook anymore ?
