(CNN) -- Mystery surrounds a shooting incident on a country road in eastern Ukraine that left several people dead and ratcheted up tensions in the region, where pro-Russian groups have seized government buildings and set up roadblocks in defiance of authorities in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. In the early hours of Sunday morning, according to pro-Russian groups in the town of Slaviansk, one of their roadblocks to the west of the town came under attack. They say three or four vehicles approached the roadblock, and their occupants opened fire on the barricades' defenders. Pro-Russian protesters at the roadblock told CNN on Sunday that as the attack got under way, they called for support, and armed men arrived to engage the attackers. Two burned-out cars were still at the scene Sunday afternoon, one of them riddled with bullet holes on one side. The sides gave conflicting reports on the casualties. The new pro-Russian administration in Slaviansk said six people were killed in the shoot-out.
http://www.cnn.com/2014/04/20/world/europe/ukraine-shooting/index.html?hpt=hp_t2
Deadly gun battles usually leave people dead, if not it wouldn't be a deadly gun battle.
Deadly gun battles usually leave people dead, if not it wouldn't be a deadly gun battle.
I clicked to post that exact thing. I'm annoyed :(
Oh shit. I need to stop expecting for things to get better, because whenever I do, something like this happens. It'll be interesting to see the responses from the world leaders. Particularly Russia.

At the very least, I'd expect pro-Russian guerrilla insurgents, if it doesn't get much worse that is. Still, I can't help but wonder: Is the land grab really so important that it's worth all of the economic sanctions and resistance that will crop up as a result of it? The place is going to a powder keg for years to come.
No, but Putin sure thinks it's worth it.
No, but Putin sure thinks it's worth it.
Putin's a relic of a dead regime. I'm sure deep down he just wants to experience what he couldn't as KGB.
Deadly gun battles usually leave people dead, if not it wouldn't be a deadly gun battle.
Wow. Ya learn something new everyday
Deadly gun battles usually leave people dead, if not it wouldn't be a deadly gun battle.
RIP in peace, ATM machine, PIN number, etc.
well shit, i was wondering how long it would take for the Russian thuggery to be countered by an insurgency, now do the not-russian troops have the commitment to fight an insurgency
Deadly gun battles usually leave people dead, if not it wouldn't be a deadly gun battle.
No shit, i though it was BB gun.
Lively gun battle in Ukraine leaves people dead.
Pro Russian residents who are definitely not soldiers and who have access to radio and immediately receive overwhelming armed support.
