Read this first

Everyone calling him insane honestly doesn't even know him personally like I do so why bother? He's quite a paranoid person yes but he's not insane. I've known him for 3 (almost 4) years now and he's anything from insane. But he is infact one of the most hyper people I have ever met which most likely explains most of the events that happened.
hyperbole: an intentional exaggeration for emphasis or comic effect
I'm not insane. :'( Sault Ste Marie is where I live, it's a small border town, just north of Michigan. Those of you from Michigan may know the name: Algoma Steel, or Tenaris Steel as it's now known. Not too big of a town, about 80k population. The power rarely goes out here, but when it does, it's usually restricted to a few blocks. Tonight was different. The power went out for a full half hour, sending the city into a state of panic. Street lights died, generators failed to start, people screaming, and kids crying. Overall, the experience was rather scary, yet beautiful. Seeing nothing but the pitch black of night, no city sounds or lights, and seeing the true beauty of the stars. It's rather interesting to see how people change in the most unexpected of times. I went to the store to check out the streets, yep, city's dead. As soon as the power was on, I guess all the other people had the same thought as me: "Hey! The power was out! Let's go to the fucking store!" as every parking lot was pretty much jam packed with cars. Tim Horton's (the coffee shop) was stark-raving mad with customers. This is in no way a complaint for my lack of games. I just loved the fucking night. So much excitement! This story is how my night went, It's re-written in story form for you to enjoy! Well, Enjoy! Everything entitled actually happened, nothing was exaggerated. Zombie-Apocalypse atmospheres are fun to play in The night the City died Here I am just playing Left 4 Dead, got the horror mod, realistic textures, and an campaign addon entitled: Escape from Sault Ste Marie. I'm just enjoying my time, awed by the accuracy of the map. I'm running down my street, blasting zombies. I hear the music que notifying me that a Tank is near. I see the tank run from inbetween a few houses, one of which was mine. Then BAM, all power goes out, the streets and street lights go dead. I look out the window and I hear people screaming, yet I see nothing, just pitch black before me. I basically scream at the window, "OH COME ON! WHAT THE FUCK? AWESOME!" The sudden shock has sent my imagination flying, knowing that I was just blasting zombies off my lawn in the dark, and the power going out, I couldn't help but panic. Stumbling, I finally find a flashlight, one of the miniature LED's, tucked away in the drawer beside my computer. I find the little fucker just to realize the batteries are dead. I fumble around in the dark of my living room, with police sirens going and kids screaming, one couldn't help but think that shit's going to hit the fan. My mother walks into the living room and asks me what the hell just happened. She was holding a candle, her expression was confused/scared. I bet I looked the same, as upon seeing me, her expression changed. "Hell, I don't know, where the fuck is the flashlight?" She gestured for me to follow as she turned around and pulled one out of the emergency lights out of the first aid kit. I take the flashlight a run outside. I unlock my bike and tape the light onto the handlebars. I decided to go for a joyride. Biking as fast as I can, I notice a few fires had started, just coming off a game, with the adrenaline pumping, I wasn't thinking; Zombies. I quickly bike up the street to the store, seeing that's it's closed and the lights are off, of course. Despite being completely freaked out, I couldn't help but yell with anticipation and excitement. I heard a few girls scream beside me and I bike off giggling. Pitch black all around me, the only thing I hear and feel is the wind rushing past my ears as I bike along the dead roads in the dead city. This was my first time seeing the city this dark, and this quiet. I bike up and down the main roads. The lights are dead all around. Generators start kicking in and small shops flicker to life. My eyes started to get used to the dark, only at the most inopportune time. I nailed the curb at the wrong angle and went flying over the handle bars, my flashlight broke and I fucked up my knee on the peddle. Then I start imagining things again, I see people running around and I'm tempted to scream, but I keep quiet and help myself up. My knee feels all strange and it feels like something's jabbing the soft spot whenever I bend it. I give up and get back on the bike and pedal painfully home in the pitch black of the monster ready to swallow me whole, more formerly known as darkness. The instant I step through the doors, the lights flicker back on, and you can hear a mass cheering around the city. That was the scariest and quickest half hour of my life. Now my leg is fucked up, the knee is swollen 3 times its size, and the tendon is torn. How's that for excitement? TL;DR The city died of all light and electricity, everyone's need to go to the store after poweroutage, epic story of how my night went, how I fucked up my leg in the dark, how I scared myself and other random people It's not how I survived it, it was how randomly awesome it was Honestly, I wish the power stayed out
Damn, must be bad for you.
ok [editline]03:54AM[/editline] Ffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Should have taken some pictures or recorded some video, oh well. An interesting read nonetheless.
FYI: Sault="Soo"
Everything entitled actually happened, nothing was exaggerated.
Except that map doesn't exist.
It was half an hour, the city was dead, and I was basically panicking. There was no way pictures or videos crossed my mind. :( Sorry
Oh, what a terrible tragedy, you didn't have TV and video games for 30 minutes, what is the world coming to?
Except that map doesn't exist.
It exists, still in development. A friend of mine's still developing it. Don't know if you know a Shawn Potvin? He lives here in town too. Not sure if he's decided to let it go public just yet. What I was playing was the first few levels of the first campaign. Gawd, it is so fucking awesome! Oh fuck, I leaked info. :( I'm sad now
It couldn't of been as bad as that blackout (I think in 2002) we had here on the east coast for like a month, could it? Imo, doesn't sound that bad.
Except that map doesn't exist.
It's in development and it's still in an early stage. There was a half hour blackout. Who cares? Blackouts happen all the time, and yours wasn't even very bad.
It wasn't bad, but it was fucking fun.
It wasn't bad, but it was fucking fun.
Blogpunch?
I've had a few blackouts at inopportune times. Such as halloween. (User was permabanned for this post ("Don't come back." - ventilated))
The power went out for a full half hour, sending the city into a state of panic. From Michigan, never heard of your Steel places but anyone from this state who doesn't know about Sault Ste Marie should feel ashamed.
There was a blackout a few days ago, it was just annoying.

", I see people running around and I'm tempted to scream, but I keep quiet and help myself up" seek help
30 minutes without power and people feel the need to write a short story about how they survived it. Humanity is fucked. I went 8 hours without running water last week, where's my movie deal
I was a few houses from my house, and I didn't feel the pain as much then... Fucking hurts now tho
I was a few houses from my house, and I didn't feel the pain as much then... Thread created to advertise L4D campaign.
Half an hour, oh no! I've been without power for 2 days, 30 minutes is nothing.

Also, your town is full of wimps who can't take a power outtage.
Umm... 80,000 people is a pretty sizable city...
