UN ambassador compares situation to Zionism = racism resolution.
Israel's current standing in the United Nations is the worst it has been in nearly forty years, said Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations, Gabriela Shalev, in an interview with Army Radio on Sunday.
"Our situation in recent months can be compared to the 1970s, when Zionism was being called racism," said Shalev.
Shalev added in the interview that as far as she knew the Libyan backed aid ship, the Almathea, which originally planned to sail to Gaza, "has left Greece and is headed for [Egyptian Port] El-Arish.
The ambassador stated that she had sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and spoken to him personally about the Gaza-bound ship, telling him it was "a provocation, especially in light of the easing of the Gaza blockade."
Shalev said that Ban is still planning on forming an international panel, which would include Turks and Israelis, to investigate the May 31 raid of the Mavi Marmara in which nine Turkish activists were killed by IDF soldiers.
Shalev, who announced her resignation last month, said that she will return to Israel at the end of summer when her time as ambassador is scheduled to end officially on September 1. She added that she still has no idea who will replace her as UN ambassador.
A post I found on another website which is pretty much truth:
"Israel holds the world's record for most defiance of UN Resolutions. Israel, exposed not only as having nuclear weapons using uranium stolen from the US but also for trying to sell nuclear weapons to other countries, has refused UN (and US) requests to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty or to allow the UN's inspectors access to the weapons facilities. Israel has yet to comply with the conditions placed on its UN membership. Israel has refused the UN request for an international inquiry into the attack on the aid flotilla. Israel has repeatedly destroyed UN facilities and killed UN staffers both in Lebanon and Gaza. And Israel has the unmitigated nerve to stand around the UN whining, "Why don't you love us?" "
Oh look, Starpluck made ANOTHER thread criticizing Israel. Didn't see that coming.
I don't really see how what you added has anything to do with the News article either. The story is just an update on the situation and a subjective analysis of their reputation. You trying to put the final nail in Israels coffin?
Why is facepunch so pro-israel? I think I've seen only two or three other people who aren't besides my self.
Guess human rights are nothing.

At least this is a more formal and straight-to-the-point update about their current status in the world.
Israel: We vow to go back to the stone age!

That's a laugh. Go read some more threads if you really think you are a lone moralist among the masses, that's a long way from reality.

This isn't formal, it's a radio interview on the ambassadors opinion. It's not straight to the point, it's only a brief mention and a minor story in an Israeli newspaper with other world issues included. It's not even accurate of the worlds opinion, obviously the ambassador at the UN is going to catch a lot more shit than anyone else. Why don't you try and learn something before passing judgement based on the ammount of threads Starpluck posts.

Oh loo, Devodiere made ANOTHER post defending Israel. Didn't see that coming coming.
What I added is relevant since this article is saying Israel's status within the UN is worst since 70s, what I added is pretty much the reason why.
Why is facepunch so pro-israel? I think I've seen only two or three other people who aren't besides my self.

Pro-Israels are dickwipes, anti-Israels are asswipes.
take your pick
Pro-Israels are dickwipes, anti-Israels are asswipes.

You're an idiot if you believe that.
Why don't you try and learn something before passing judgement based on the ammount of threads Starpluck posts.
This has nothing to do with anything.
This has nothing to do with anything.
Well if it doesn't make a difference what is the point in creating a new thread for every anti-israel article you find? You went onto an Israeli newspaper website and found one that suited your view of the conflict so everyone must know about it. You even added your own spin onto it to influence people even further, I bet no-one has actually even read the article.
You're an idiot if you believe that.
yeah yeah zionists brainwashing my mind as they control the media etc

oh wait what side was the absolute evil from your point of view

Oh look, Devodiere is butthurt because I make articles critical of Israel, if you don't care about the 'anti-Israel' articles then don't open them, simple. It's as if you're getting angry every time I make an article exposing Israel. Sorry bub, a nation that constantly defies human rights daily, and gets away with it, is defintely newsworthy.

Yeah cause killing civies and aid workers can totally be a good thing.
Get out, just leave if you don't know the meaning of the word subjective.
lol, starpluck, did you even read the article? The woman there says that Israel's situation with the UN is worse than what it was in the 70's, not ISRAEL's situation itself.

You're not exposing anything, if they were constantly doing stuff wrong then fine but we've heard it all before. One thread dies so you have to remind everyone of what you see as evil. If you were really concerned about human rights then you would be posting articles related to the rest of the world and the numerous violations there, but you think that Israel is the only one worth posting about. You can't even keep it to ITN and have to post videos about it too.

Yeah, I know. I added why under the article.

Read the titile.
Israel's status worst since 70's

Thanks for that heartfelt post bravehat, mentioning dead people really helps your argument. Nevermind the fact that the article is about the ambassadors opinion on Israels reputation, dead people must mean everyone hates them.
Let me tell you why: It's because of all the propaganda that is going on. For example the flotilla that pretty much fooled everyone to believe Israel was at fault, when it's clear that the terrorist supporters attacked first.

That's the title starpluck wrote, which is wrong, read the article and you'll see why.

Selective argumentation is the base of argumenting EVERY point. You're not gonna argue something whilst presenting arguments that aren't in your favor, are you?

You bitched about their reputation, I gave you a good example as to why they have that repuation, go cry some more.
And I don't frankly give a fuck, I'm pissed that you misused the word subjective, what you meant was objective. :colbert:

The peace activists didn't attacked first or else Israel wouldn't of destroyed all the evidence. Cuz they got nothing to hide right?

Are you denying that the attackers were members of the IHH - an organization that was banned in Turkey for its' link to extreme Islamist movements and terror sympathy?
And, have fun watching a raw 1 hour film taken by 1 of the passanger on the ship:
When will you get anything right? I didn't write the title?
It's still non-related to the article. It gives the impression that Israel is as bad as it was in the 70's, a little after the apartheid, which is not even close to what the article is about.
Selective argumentation is the base of argumenting EVERY point. You're not gonna argue something whilst presenting arguments that aren't in your favor, are you?
Not presenting facts from the other side is called spin. Helped along by the absurd number of arguments posted and the apparent weakness of most of these arguments I'd say spin it's more of a PR war. If any were actual arguments instead of articles loosely related that paint Israel in a poor light, it wouldn't be as bad.

Opinions aren't objective, always subjective. An objective opinion requires a person completely free of involvement and emotional attatchment. Complaining about how she thinks Israels reputation has been set back 40 years does not have any basis in fact and relies on her subjective judgement of the situation.

The Israeli claim that the IHH is a terrorist group is utter bullshit. Even the Obama Administration who are always in support of Israel called bullshit. http://www.newsweek.com/blogs/declassified/2010/06/04/was-the-gaza-flotilla-linked-to-terrorists-.html

That isn't what the Israeli claim is. Strawman some more.

This is an article argumenting that Israel hasn't been this fucked since the 70's, do you honestly expect it to also make a point how Israel is also filled with flowers and sunshine?

It shows the so-called "peace activists" chanting antisemitic songs and saying they want to be shahids or martyrs.
