With all the footage / info about each DLC it seems like they're already made and could easily be added to the main game but you know, DLC money = best money
Selling shit as DLC you've already made and could easily put in the game is dumb.
Ubisoft Presents:
Saints Row: Hack the Planet
The whole aesthetic of this game is terrible.
A game that has trailers for DLC showing off finished content before release should always be a red flag.
I'm surprised this game is going to make money.
It's like Ubisoft saw how big Activision and EA are so they thought that in order to get that big, they'd have to be even more scummy and hated than they are

TRASHIIING

99% of ubisofts dlc is that though
Is this game even fucking out yet?
Haha holy fuck this whole trailer is like a parody, what a fucking joke.
I like how they know Jodi was well more liked than Aiden so instead of working with him you work with Jodi
Is this game even fucking out yet?
Nope
And I can already tell this game is going to be a huge fuckup like the first, maybe an even bigger one.
It sucks because I knew the first one was bad, I knew it wasn't a good game, but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it just enough past it's flaws to say I enjoyed it

It's basically what middle-aged people think millennials are like
Every single time a game announces DLC before its out, and before its review copies are out, you know you want to avoid it
like people need to actively avoid games that do this. Good or bad, this is the epitome of fucking terrible business.
That :quotes: Russian Mob :quotes: design is so fucking cringy.
It's like they saw pics of the stereotypical slav squatter and said "yep, this is how Russians everywhere look".

I hope this game flops hard.
Can't wait to climb on that very nice tower crane as opposed to radio tower in [INSERT UBISOFT TITLE HERE].
Hah that like/dislike ratio
I can't believe how bad this looks.
Wow.
Why not just wait until the game is out before you start thinking about DLC?
Pretty much every AAA title is like this now. If there is a season pass, you can bet your ass you can pre-order it.
Wow this looks bad in every way.
All those buzzwords
my brain is fucking melting
holy shit holy shit
It's $40.
This is an even bigger ripoff than I thought
ballsy to announce a $40 season pass for the sequel to a game that was arguably a failure.
What is the target audience for this game?
ballsy to announce a $40 season pass for the sequel to a game that was arguably a failure.
Over 10 million sales is not a failure. Regardless of whether or not the game is bad.

It's not though, definitely not from Ubisoft's perspective.
Keep in mind that the following is true for the average customer, which is not the average Facepunch member.
The standard development cycle nowadays is that you start developing DLCs close to finishing the game so you can show off some of the upcoming content by the time the season pass is available (the release of the base game).
The DLC content at this point is not ready, it's at best beta stage, development on the last ones might not have started even.
But why do they do this?
There are multiple reasons, one I find overlooked is that (for games with a MP component)a sizeable, active playerbase even after half a year/a year is a huge selling point.
But how do you keep people playing the game that long?
Post launch content updates.
This means that DLCs can generate money indirectly, since they positively influence the sales of the base game.
In the short term, people get reassured that they will get a game which has entertainment value in the long run.
In the long term, as long as people play it, it will attract customers aswell.
And of course of you get money after the eventual DLC/Season Pass sales too.
Of course you could do all this for free, but the truth is as long as you do a relatively decent or okayish job people will buy it.
Season passes are kind of mutually beneficial (not really): players get assurance they receive the whole experience,
and it comforts those who prefer to make pay larger amounts of money, but only once (the traditional expansion pack model).
On the business side, they get larger amounts of cash quickly at hand, which makes it easier to plan and develop future updates or projects (the time value of money applies here). Another reason is that players otherwise wouldn't buy all the DLC probably. This means even if you sell the season pass for less than the sum of its contents, you probably get a higher revenue.
TLDR: game lasts longer, more people buy it.
ps: it's horrible I know

a russian mob looking this stereotypical in a hacktivist game set in san francisco is just absolutely ridiculous to me for some reason
