Alright well me and my brother both want to buy electric guitars. Now see there seems to be quite a good deal at best buy. It comes with the guitar, a strap, a bag, a amp and cd with guitar lessons. The price all in all comes down to 179 dollars. I would buy the cheap ones on ebay but thats not available for me right now. So is this a good deal for one? If you want to know the guitar model it's a Robson, lol ( i have no idea what that is ) Link http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/robson-electric-guitar-pack/10106307.aspx?path=ac2a0411afbc1850562b89c27a947655en02
What's your budget? I personally would not get it, I would save up for something a little more expensive.
Are you and your bro beginners? If so, I'd take it.
Any starter packs are going to be terrible. The guitar might be okay but the amp will most definitely be horrid. I would strongly recommend you spend more like $300-500 on the guitar alone, and $100 or so on an amp. If you get a decent set up to start with, it won't discourage you from playing or prevent you from progressing. If you like strats, a Squier Fat Strat is an excellent starter guitar, it's versatile and of fairly good quality for the price range. You should also look at used guitars. I often see made in Japan Ibanez RGs for under $300 on forums, and they are pretty much guaranteed to be amazing instruments. I bought my Ibanez RG7620 from a classefeids section on a forum for $450 and it's an amazing guitar. Don't overlook the used option.

If this is your starter guitar ide get something pretty cheap. Just so you know you actually want to play guitar. I mean your started guitar gets fucked up with all the bad strumming you do as a beginner. My first guitar was £50 for the guitar and the amp, I have now moved onto something more expensive. The last thing you want to worry about is not to ruin it when your playing. So if you ask me, no go for something more cheaper for a starter.

I bought my starter pack 2 years ago for like 250$ and Im loving playing my guitar every day for the past 2 years. I do wish I would've just bought a low end guitar and a roland cube, but meh. I'd reccomend you get some form of a guitar at the 150$ price range and get a roland cube 30 watt. If you dont like that setup you shouldn't be playing guitar.
Get a better guitar but buy second hand so it's just as cheap.

Also I'm thinking more in Australian prices here, and our markup is absolutely shit on musical instruments. A $500 guitar over here is probably more like $300 in the US.
Bad deal. Get a $300 ibanez and love it [editline]07:12PM[/editline] don't buy a guitar from any chain store unless it's guitar center. they will always suck
I believe I have the starter pack you want. It's the Fender StarCaster, a Strat knock-off that sucks people in who don't read the actual name of the guitar. I'd recommend not getting it. It's alright I guess but the amp broke after hardly any use. Save up for something better. And don't just jump straight into guitar, learn the anatomy of a guitar and familiarize yourself with the different brands who make guitars. actually nevermind, my guitar was from the same place and the same price, I completely missed the link. I don't know about that one but I'd assume it's not a whole lot better. Fine for beginning though.
Buy a guitar USED!!! I just got a Dean Razorback Explosion for under $400. [IMG]http://img140.imageshack.us/i/dean02razorbackexplosio.jpg/]
How!!! How the hell did you find a razorback for 400 dollars!!!!
From the medieval weapons surplus; great prices.
hahaha :downs: I had an opportunity to get a razorback explosion as my first for 300 quid but my dad's a tight arsed bastard.
I'm assuming you don't know how to play the guitar so I'd suggest buying a cheap acoustic guitar to learn on instead. Ashton and Cort make some decent semi-acoustics for a good price.

I got a used Gibson v for $500 at guitar center

I regret not buying a used guitar.
