Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has invited former FBI Director James Comey to testify publicly at a Senate hearing, the South Carolina Republican said Tuesday. Comey previously declined a request to testify on Tuesday in closed session before the Senate Intelligence Committee, but The New York Times reported Comey would be willing to testify in an open session. "I’ve asked Comey to come before the Judiciary Committee to tell his side of the story," Graham told reporters. "I think it would be good for him if he did. It would be good for the country."
UPDATE: Other republicans are also getting on board in terms of wanting to (finally!) hold the White House accountable for their gross negligence. So far, this looks to be a somewhat promising sign given the circumstances.
It appears they are throwing Comey a bone. This is going to be interesting to watch.
Tear down Trump's whole rotten establishment. Corruption has never run so rampant in the halls of the White House.
We'll see how long this cult of personality can last. I worry that these scandals merely serve to fuel the false 'fake news' narrative, and adding further fuel to the fire of cognitive dissonance could culminate to a peak, and soon. Anyone who knows a lick of politics in the US is now enshrouded in a fiery, chaotic world where both sides, no matter which you're on, serve to undercut and destroy the other without mercy. It's always been like that, to an extent, but this is beyond anything most Americans have ever seen. It can't last. The good part, for my particular side of things, is that these scandals seem to be pushing many more independents/leaners away from associating themselves with the volatility and irrationality of the cult; but I fear it may come at the cost of alienating large portions of the populace. I'm not sure whether this will reduce or increase voter apathy.

Trump has discredited the integrity of the entire democratic system, his abuses of office undermine the security of our entire country, and his quickly growing list of high crimes of office threaten to destabilize our entire government by tearing down our system of checks and balances. I don't want Trump impeached because he's a nasty dirty Republican, I want him impeached because it is growing increasingly likely that he has committed treason, and has been caught red-handed committing at least three other high crimes of office, including intimidation, obstruction of justice, and extortion.

Is something finally about to happen?
I agree, but ideological partisanship fuelled in an information-bombarded world of illusory truth and cognitive dissonance has made almost every issue massively partisan.
I have a fearful suspicion Illusory truth and cognitive dissonance is a side effect to human civilization progressing into a overwhelmingly complex place, a double-edged sword caused by people with ever differing perceptions and awarenesses of the universe. I'm concerned removing Trump and possibly his cabinet members will not be a long-term fix for corruption in American politics, it will be treated as such, but it will just split the country more ideologically. Trumps impeachment will be a feel good short-term fix to what I fear maybe part of the very foundation of American society. Everything seems to be exasperating into if you don't think like us we will be against you mindset fracturing and splitting of US politics.
Well lets hope the hearing takes place as soon as possible

Ten bucks says we'll get right wing shooting motivated by this before all this is over.
Is something finally about to happen?
It seems many Republicans are getting tired of the drama happening in the WH and want a government that governs not one that has a scandal everyday Plus if the public starts disapproving Trump (which is slowly happening) then their chances in the mid terms start to fall Trumps gonna be fucked if the mid terms go to the democrats
I don't know what will piss Trump off more; the possible political ramifications of this or the fact this will get higher ratings than him when this is broadcast.
I don't know what will piss Trump off more; the possible political ramifications of this or the fact this will get higher ratings than him when this is broadcast.
i wonder how he would feel if a hypothetical impeachment proceeding got higher ratings than his inauguration. would he default to the narcissism and assume they're watching to make sure he's okay, or would the persecution complex make him think that everyone watching is against him?

Corruption has been clearly hinted at since his inauguration. What broke the camel's back was a matter of national security that they can no longer ignore. If there's anything that gets Republican leader's panties in a wad quicker than "socialism", it's fucking up on national security matters.
"Look at the way I've been treated lately! Especially by the media. No politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly!" -Donald Trump, minutes ago, at US Coast Guard Commencement. [editline]/[/editline] Tried to snip it since I posted in the wrong thread, but I guess it's too late now. Still relevant, at least.

Because if he did say this he really needs to read about a man called George W. Bush.

Bravo to Sen. Graham for finally putting country over party for once.
