NASA today has released a stunning 64-megapixel photo of Earth from space. Assembled from multiple images captured earlier this month by a research satellite orbiting 512 miles (824km) away, the resulting "Blue Marble" view of our planet is similar to past such photos released by the U.S. space agency, except the resolution and detail is much higher (though, interestingly, still not high enough to make out many signs of human habitation, in part because of the satellite's comparatively distant orbit).
Where's Wally?
I can never wrap my head around a picture like this being real. Just stunning!

Of course the actual pcitures that take part of this one aren't like that, they're heavily doctored in order to make them look as accurate as it actually looks from space
Time to play Where's Waldo with this picture
There's Palpatine!
Kinda surprised you can't see any human habitation, would've guessed there were atleast something.
OBVIOUSLY a photo containing the USA, I wanna see Europe!

I can see Miami, Houston, Dallas, New York, and LA quite clearly.

New Orleans, too.
It's amazing how you can barely see any signs of human civilization. We've done very little, visually, to this planet.
Yep, that's my desktop now. I set it to 'Fit' and used a black background, it's perfect.
I was intrigued by this lake in here

looking on google:

this spot right here is the city of mexicalli

There are agriculture fields around the lake, now check out the inmediate difference between US fields and Mexican fields :v:

So how big is it in file size?
So how big is it in file size?
16.4mb

Because shit looks the same from space. Dark greens and grays blend very well
At first I thought the image would be 64k x 64k but was disappointed when it was 64mp. 8k x 8k isn't all that big.
So how big is it in file size?
16.1 mb, I'm guesing the actual render on PS (or whatever software they used to edit the pics) runs around the 3GB or something :eng101:

16 MB
edit:
fucking ninja

If it's a 32bit image, it should be 2048MB
I think
Now we need a 64 gigapixel version using panorama shots with this same camera.
If it's a 32bit image, it should be 2048MB

The article said it was many pictures put together, say it was around 30 pictures (I'm totally throwing random numbers) and all were 64-megapixel photos, The size of that file would be enormous.
Government doctored conspiracy, the truth is that the world is actually flat! Free your minds and realise the truth!
What amazes me most is how brown America is, it's not usually interpreted this way in films and such. I personally associate desert with Africa or the middle east, but the US is actually a lot more desert than I thought.
That's not earth, thats The United States of America.

Glad to see another Flat Earth Society member in here.
I'm always entertained how in a massive sea of green, cities always look like giant grey blobs infecting the Earth.
The U.S. is apparently incredibly brown.

IT looks like they spherized the image in photoshop and added outer and inner glow to make the atmosphere.
And the edges are pixelated.
Which means someone cutted the image before spherize it.
How come I cannot see stars?

Also people! This is on the surface on the planet Mars!

Nasa says it's false colored.
But it looks like the natural eye can see.
And this is how it's in "real color"

Notice the shadows color, it's brown.
Now i'm not an expert. You may know better.
The U.S. is apparently incredibly brown.
Lots and lots of farmland tends to do that.

It's more of a mix between plains and deserts. It's a real son-of-a-bitch of a landscape.
The earth looks so freaky in space even though it's pretty fabulous
