I really dislike Pierce. [editline]4th November 2012[/editline] Plus I love Penn
"Pierce Morgan being a huge cunt to Penn Jillette" what?? it's just two dudes having a chat, i don't see how pierce morgan was being a cunt in any way. he might be a cunt 99% of the time, but in this video he wasn't a cunt at all.
For a discussion between and atheist and a christian, I didn't think it was that bad, it seemed quite level headed.
Yeah this seems perfectly reasonable and civil of two men on opposite sides of an impossibly divisive topic.
Penn can be really annoyingly optimistic.
Admittedly though this video made me have a lot of respect for Penn as an atheist, he's a lot more respectful in what he says than the likes of Dawkins, he speaks his mind without being a dick and treading on everyones toes.
penn's a republican? OHHHHH MANNNNNN.
It's 'Piers'. Just saying.
penn's a republican? OHHHHH MANNNNNN.
More than that, he's a libertarian.
I fucking love Penn Jillette. [editline]5th November 2012[/editline]
More than that, he's a libertarian.
I think he shares some of the technical views that libertarian's have, but socially hes about as liberal as you can get. Not to mention even though he advocated Smaller Government, other things he said were fairly Democratic too.
Penn has an awesome voice
More than that, he's a libertarian.
i'm absolutely vomiting everywhere

Damn, when Pierce was asking where we came from, I felt pretty bummed out that Penn didn't talk about evolution, which has mounds and mounds of evidence to back it up. [editline]5th November 2012[/editline] Especially since that kind of fucked up his whole point and gave Pierce ammo with which to use against him. [editline]5th November 2012[/editline] Also, holy shit Penn is such a down-to-earth guy. So polite and humble, not jumping at Pierce's throat. Athiests should take note.
I think he shares some of the technical views that libertarian's have, but socially hes about as liberal as you can get.
Which is generally how libertarianism is: socially liberal, economically conservative. [editline]5th November 2012[/editline]
i'm absolutely vomiting everywhere
Why? Much better than being a straight up conservative.
The thing most religious people seem to be unable to fathom is atheism or simply not believing in any god is just a different, more down to earth world view. It's not an empty spot in someone's soul they need to fill with their own gods.
Piers is a tool. [editline]5th November 2012[/editline] When they're discussing belief/non-belief I facepalmed.
piers or penn who's a bigger cunt
The way Piers talks about it, it's as if no matter what, you MUST believe in a higher being of some sort, Doesn't even have to be the one he believes in, and if you just don't then you're completely wrong As for me, I won't say there isn't god, there could be for all I know, but then again for all I know we're all just pawns in EA's Sims 62. But I do know that if there is one he sure as shit doesn't give a fuck about you or me, this planet, or probably this entire galaxy
Why? Much better than being a straight up conservative.
i find it morally repugnant to be socially liberal (which generally requires a fair understanding of the issues that minorities of various types face) and then not be economically liberal which provides the mechanisms for the avenue of combating those problems. an economically conservative world is a cold and brutal one. i also find it annoying how libertarians can somehow think that they're morally above conservatives because of their social ideology, but somehow still abide by the absolutely ridiculous economic policy
I like Penn

This is in spite of the fact that if you look at the period objectively you see that we weren't all that great.
At one point he says 'lets take a break just to shut you up'. I think its pretty clear Piers is just being a douche.
He did an interview with Teller but it was much less eventful
Even after reading the thread title I'm surprised how condescending this guy is. Kudos to Penn though, he takes it all coolly. He's such a nice guy.
