it's just two dudes having a chat, i don't see how pierce morgan was being a cunt in any way.
he might be a cunt 99% of the time, but in this video he wasn't a cunt at all.
For a discussion between and atheist and a christian, I didn't think it was that bad, it seemed quite level headed.
Yeah this seems perfectly reasonable and civil of two men on opposite sides of an impossibly divisive topic.
Penn can be really annoyingly optimistic.
Admittedly though this video made me have a lot of respect for Penn as an atheist, he's a lot more respectful in what he says than the likes of Dawkins, he speaks his mind without being a dick and treading on everyones toes.

I think he shares some of the technical views that libertarian's have, but socially hes about as liberal as you can get.
Not to mention even though he advocated Smaller Government, other things he said were fairly Democratic too.

The thing most religious people seem to be unable to fathom is atheism or simply not believing in any god is just a different, more down to earth world view.

i find it morally repugnant to be socially liberal (which generally requires a fair understanding of the issues that minorities of various types face) and then not be economically liberal which provides the mechanisms for the avenue of combating those problems. an economically conservative world is a cold and brutal one.
i also find it annoying how libertarians can somehow think that they're morally above conservatives because of their social ideology, but somehow still abide by the absolutely ridiculous economic policy

I think it's because many of the most famous founding fathers were rightist libertarians and everyone looks back on the founding fathers with glossy eyes as if the revolutionary period was some sort of golden age for the USA. This is in spite of the fact that if you look at the period objectively you see that we weren't all that great.
At one point he says 'lets take a break just to shut you up'.
