Gaining muscle intrigues me, but I need more guidance

'm 21, 170cm, 62kg, want to bulk up a little bit
Doing did a bit of research, I found this guy's health/workout site as well as his videos on youtube:
http://scoobysworkshop.com/beginning-workout-plan/ - For the last week or so I've been happily doing this alongside some weights, focusing of getting my form correct and doing steady controlled movements.
In terms of protein bars, I've been consuming these after cardio or some weights:
http://www.aussiebodies.com.au/products/tone-up/protein-fx-lo-carb
and occasionally snacking on the mini versions (can be found on the same site)
http://www.mrsupplement.com.au/optimum-natural-100-whey-gold-standard - seems to get glowing reviews all round, since I'm not familiar with supplement jargon, is this okay for regular use (by this I mean suitable for use even if i'm not on a strict workout routine)?
As I've never done much weights and I'm not that fit as it is, would this be a reasonable start in terms of working out at home? I want to try this for a little while and maybe get a gym membership down the line if I get into it more.
Having read through your post 2 times already, I still can't seem to figure out what the fuck do you want.
This sounds like a - "I'm fucking excited, I want to spill everything and get answers I could on my own".
We're happy you've decided to join the club, but you got the answers, all you need to do is stop missing out on the ACTION
Well I'd like some assurance I guess, I want to gain a little bit of muscle and be toned. Since I'm kind of oblivious to gaining muscle other than what i've researched, I'd like to know if i'm on the right track, based on the shit I've said.
I have a tendancy to write a bit when making topics, I can shorten it if it's not making any sense.
don't ever used the word toned again

You can get assurance by doing. As to what I would like a beginner to understand in terms of basics;
HOW TO PROPERLY WARM UP: http://www.ironaddicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3404
WHAT NOT TO DO: http://www.ironaddicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31413
WHAT A BEGINNER SHOULD DO: http://www.ironaddicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31526
(this will probably eliminate any stupid questions and put you on the right path)
ROTATOR CUFF, BECAUSE ALL NEWBIES GET THIS EVENTUALLY: http://www.ironaddicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30396
Can't be arsed right now to be sure I put all the information you asked for, so watch this, and if you got any more questions.......
w/e fuck all this talk
It's really not that complicated:
Eat heaps of food, lift heavy things that get progressively heavier.
Fuck all that protein bar noise, just fucking eat. Eat everything and anything. Beginners fuck their own progress because they stress over some dumb shit like trying to calculate protein per meal LMAO. Just eat a lot of food.
Whey Protein powder is just protein. Nothing more nothing less. There is practically zero difference between 30g of protein consumed from chicken than 30g protein consumed from powder, so yes, protein powder is fine to eat even when not on a strict regime. It's literally food.
Less caloric effort when digesting whey. In the long run, it's barely anything of notice, just wanted to point this out.
Also, it's nice to see a scale going up 10 pounds a week, but it's really not gonna benefit you. It's just to sooth your own inner-conflicts. Ease up, and eat whenever you can, and make sure it has protein in it. Whether you'd need more or not, you'll soon find out. Fuck over-training scared-cats and trust yourself.
Those who win the race are those who can continue even though they are not winning any prizes. Memorize this shit.
Seith means that when you see "a scale going up 10 pounds a week", you're gaining weight too fast; thus, most of your accumulated weight will be fat. You need patience for this, but also a lot of food so don't be afraid of eating too much.
Just don't stuff your face with fast food all day and you're good to go.
Ok, fair enough, stuff to start with, thanks guys

trimmed that shit down
Just read the nutrition part of Scoobysworkshop. Follow what he says. As soon as I stopped listening to what guys on forums like these say (even though I am doing just that, in a way. So many people praise Scooby for a reason though) and started following this guy, I have seen improvements much faster.

Would you rather gain lean weight over a longer period of time, or get fat and strong and have poor nutrition? You can't force your muscles to grow.
I'd only consider bulking and cutting after 7 years of dedicated lifting, as your gains will slow over time.
Scooby is a great source to take from, to an extent.
People praise him as they would any other supplement on the market for that matter, but that doesn't make him good, just popular.
I used to watch all his videos to listen to what he has to say, and after a while I had decided to comment and got some stupid fucking retarded response (from him, if it wasn't clear enough) I would never have expected, so his credibility in my eyes (at least in terms of muscle) sunk like a shit down a drain.
I'm actually quite offended, personally, seriously, with this "on forums like these" because I surf a lot of forums and this is no bb.com, yet no IA.com, yet it's got it's respectable place in my heart. Decent information, decent people, and also, funny.

many people praise scooby? Who? Retards that populate bb.com? Yeah that's a great recommendation.
Nobody here is actually advocating the "stuff your face until you are fat, then drop bodyfat" approach. But by that same token, telling beginners they need to plan their meals out to a T is FUCKING RETARDED. Your body doesn't operate on a chart of calories and macros that some whiny voice retard propped up on his website, it's a complex organism that changes dynamically based on a huge amount of factors.
A newbie already has enough to worry about, telling him he's not going to make solid gains unless he documents and measures everything he eats is dumb and flat out wrong.
When a couple of people told me they gained 10kgs in 2 months i thought it wasn't healthy, but then again i'm oblivious to this shit. At the moment i've been eating a bit more, but eating healthy, following that beginners plan and thats about it.
eating a bit more
an extra slice of cheese
"man im eating so much but i cant seem to gain weight :'(("- u in 2 months
