won't be coming to the west for a while, but i'm glad yakuza 2 is getting kiwami'd as well since it has the best story in the series from what i've played but the gameplay is really janky for the people who got introduced to the series with 0
Yakuza 0 was my first.
my Kiwami arrived today.
hoping they all end up on ps4

by the time kiwami 3 comes around we'll probably already have moved over to the next console generation
an "HD Collection" style collection of 3-5 for PS4 would probably be a good idea and not unlikely, since they already did a japan-only HD collection of 1 and 2 for PS3, though it sold poorly
what i really want though is for the samurai spin-offs to come to the west, they're apparently really great
Is 2 the one with the awesome detective story?

Do you mean the best female character in the entire series? Yes.
Is 2 the one with the awesome detective story?
yup, it's the one with the koreans and ryuji goda as well, who is still my favorite yakuza antagonist
oh and the giant tigers
Kinda hard to believe that now it's canon that the main antagonist of Y2 stole kid's pants when he was in high school.
It looks like it's using the same engine from 6. Can't wait!
Also this has a playable Majima campaign with new story and ties to 0
i hope it doesnt detract from the darker tone of the story, the moments of levity majima brought to 2 were great but too much might ruin the atmosphere
Yakuza Kiwami 2, Shin Yakuza, Yakuza Online, Yakuza of the North Star.
Everythings turning up Yakuza.
Yakuza is good. I want a million years of it.
Ryu Ga Gotoku is a yearly franchise that still somehow manages to pump out quality longass rpg brawlers year after year
it helps that they can reuse so many assets per game and not have it affect the games' quality at all
in most games always being in the same area would be a bad thing, but kamurocho is always a treat
it's gotten to the point where i can remember most of the street names and i think that's great
Even when they dont reuse (6 is built from the ground up) they still manage to get it all done in a year
Must be some slave labor type shit im tellin ya
when they make big leaps they tend to have in-between games that have less people working on them to gather up more budget and give more time for the main installments

the leap from 2 to 3 had kenzan, 4 to 5 had dead souls, 5 to 0 had isshin, 0 to 6 had kiwami
though it's clear that since 0 the amount of people working on the series has increased and even with the leaps they have less time in-between games

I you're new to the series you really should play them in release order the Kiwami changes really takes stuff out from the story and Yakuza 2 might be the best game in the series
I wouldn't mind too much if 3 and the later games don't get a remake. Maybe re-releases though. Especially 3, considering the amount of content cut from it.
sega are having a survey for seeing how interested people here in the west are so fill it out here and tell your yakuza fan friends
