The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr and BeeGees co-founder Barry Gibb have been awarded knighthoods by Britain's Queen Elizabeth in her 2018 New Year honors list. 77-year-old Starr, whose real name is Richard Starkey, is the second Beatle to be knighted, 21 years after Paul McCartney. Gibb, the 70s disco pioneer who co-founded the BeeGees with his late brothers Robin and Maurice, said he was "deeply honored, humbled, and very proud" to be recognized. ... Darcey Bussell, the former principal dancer with the Royal Ballet and current judge on hit British television show "Strictly Come Dancing," was awarded a damehood for services to dance. ... Former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg was honored with a knighthood.

Former Liberal Democrat leader and deputy prime minister Nick Clegg has been knighted in the New Year Honours list. Sir Nick, who led his party into coalition with the Conservatives in 2010, is recognised for political and public service. Influential Tory MP Graham Brady is knighted, as are two other members of his backbench 1922 Committee. There is also a knighthood for Labour's Lindsay Hoyle, Commons deputy speaker. And Prof John Curtice - whose exit poll correctly predicted the hung Parliament in June's general election - is knighted for services to social sciences and politics. Political honours are considered by a special committee set up in 2012, which includes independent members and party representatives. Wait, mcartney gets knighted in 1997 and it took them 20 years to remember there were other beetles still alive?
Honestly I thought all the Beatles were already knighted.
Clegg gets a knighthood, Cameron doesn't. Justice.
Good, the second worst beetle joined the worst beetle in knighthood.
Honestly I thought all the Beatles were already knighted.
They all got MBEs from the Queen in ‘65. Lennon actually turned his back in later since he wasn’t a fan of Britain supporting the Vietnan War.0
Why Corporal Clegg?
I hope Ringo's MSpaint art was on display.
Why Corporal Clegg?
The Queen wanted to recognize that he slept with nearly 30 women.
Why Corporal Clegg?
The Queen must really hates the Libdems, eradicating them is the only significant thing Nick clegg has ever done.
As surprised as I am that Nick Clegg got a knighthood, we should recognise one of the few services he has done for this country - giving David Cameron something other than the British population to fuck on his off days.
Clegg jokes aside, I would hate to see what would've happened with a full Tory government instead.
Clegg gets a knighthood, Cameron doesn't. Justice.
Shame bout the lies though.

But I suppose in that situation he was a Lib Dem Prime Minister faced with a rowdy backbench full of Tories who wanted it done, so it had to be done or else. We see this now with Theresa May and she's the Tory leader so... But that's how I rationalise a bad moment in the coalition. As soon as Cameron was left to himself he started an incredibly dangerous referendum campaign to try and solidify his position. If either of them were going to get a knighthood I'd choose any Lib Dem over either of the past two Conservative PMs.
