Am I the only one who would never use a laptop that's so small? I'd be scared to even take it anywhere. It's like how phones keep getting smaller. I still use an iPhone 3GS with an Otterbox case.
"Great question! Moving on" Haha.
I really like the idea of a tiny notebook that is powerful, light, and passively cooled so you can't hear any fans. The only problem is that as per usual apple ends up pricing it crazy high making it not really worth the money they want you to part with.

The iPhone 3GS is smaller than either of the current iPhones (especially the plus) and most flagship Androids.

Phones keep getting thinner not smaller. The 3GS is substantially fatter and thicker than a 5 or 6. Eventually we'll have paper thin phones that can be run over by trucks some day.
the real issue with the MacBook is the processor and apparently the webcam. it struggles bigtime. everything else about the laptop has a purpose and is absolutely undeniably well built and designed. there are no objective complaints otherwise wait for the next generation when they put something that isn't a Core M inside it for now i'll be sticking with my retina macbook pro. i don't think anyone on this forum is really the target audience for this laptop, and especially not this generation of the MacBook [editline]31st May 2015[/editline]
I still use an iPhone 3GS with an Otterbox case.
absolutely nothing to brag about in this sentence.
Its meant for a VERY specific kind of user. Its not at all flexible.
yes? how is this a complaint [editline]31st May 2015[/editline] i think people have no real reason to get so frustrated over a computer that isn't designed with them in mind specifically fwiw [editline]31st May 2015[/editline] a lot like people getting angry at smartwatches. if they're not meant for you in specific then i don't see why you should waste your time bitching and moaning about it. same thing here i really need to take the time out to applaud linus for appending 'waste of money?' to the title of this video. as if his reviewer's slant wasn't obvious enough
So, not this then? Its going to struggle at anything more strenuous than checking Facebook.
Well I mean powerful in the context of tiny computer for browsing the web/watching netflix. I'm not expecting a gaming rig.
amazing $2000 to browse facebook and watch cat videos
amazing $2000 to browse facebook and watch cat videos
but these can do actual work like let me use photoshop because windows PCs are not good with photoshop i read it on the internet
amazing $2000 to browse facebook and watch cat videos
People were buying Pro's for that too so really nothing has changed.
Should have been $1199 for 128gb of storage Who would need 256gb for a core m computer?
I hope this is sarcasm.
windows is designed for office excel and BORING things. macs give people like me creative FREEDOM. any price tag is worth that.
People were buying Pro's for that too so really nothing has changed.
amazing now we can watch cat videos and browse facebook at the same time for $4000
the real issue with the MacBook is the processor and apparently the webcam. it struggles bigtime. everything else about the laptop has a purpose and is absolutely undeniably well built and designed. there are no objective complaints otherwise wait for the next generation when they put something that isn't a Core M inside it for now i'll be sticking with my retina macbook pro. i don't think anyone on this forum is really the target audience for this laptop, and especially not this generation of the MacBook [editline]31st May 2015[/editline] absolutely nothing to brag about in this sentence.
An "objective complaint" could probably the fact that if I want to do a presentation (without using an Apple TV), work with some files from an external HDD, etc. I'd either have to buy a dongle (in fact, maybe multiple depending on the use case) and keeping it around, or just hope that I won't run out of battery life. Putting a second USB type-C or B would have alleviated basically any of those issues. I don't really get what you mean by "objective complaints", when every use case is basically subjective. It's a well built machine (basically every apple product is) but it has some pretty glaring (and easily fixed) omissions in my opinion. The Core M of course can't really be fixed before maybe next gen or the one after, but I digress.
Linus' proper full reviews are really good recently. I felt like he really covered it well.
windows is designed for office excel and BORING things. macs give people like me creative FREEDOM. any price tag is worth that.
Y'know, I genuinely used to believe this when I started high school. But then I got a good PC for a third the price of a Mac and it all made sense to me.
amazing now we can watch cat videos and browse facebook at the same time for $4000
heheh [editline]1st June 2015[/editline]
On a serious note it always bothers me when people come into my shop and are like "does this computer come with microsoft office 7" and I'm just like "dude what"
maybe because you can get office for OS X? [editline]1st June 2015[/editline] not that you need it anymore
heheh [editline]1st June 2015[/editline] maybe because you can get office for OS X? [editline]1st June 2015[/editline] not that you need it anymore
No no, I mean when I'm telling a customer about one of our computers for sale. I don't know if they mean "Does this have Windows 7" or "Does this come with Office".
Because its a hell of a lot of money for a computer which will only fit a very specific use case, should you want to do more, you have to go and get another computer. Its a fundamentally compromised device for a relatively small reduction in thickness compared to a MacBook Air, which while not a powerhouse, will get you a hell of a lot further than this. [editline]31st May 2015[/editline] And I've got a Smartwatch, its not massively useful, but damn is it convenient to have.
Then don't buy it? No one is forcing you to.
Doesn't mean it's not stupid
