According to a tweet from Ivan-Assen Ivanov (below), the technical director for Tropico 5 developer Haemimont Games, the studio is putting the game on hold for the time being. Ivanov states that
the studio is porting it to Unity 5 as well as taking advantage of the newly announced engine subscription plans for Epic's Unreal Engine 4 and Crytek's CryEngine.
Holy hell did i laugh my ass :v: , this is quality journalism right here guys!
snp
Even with not being able to tell emotions in text, that's really fucking bad.
Gameinformer is probably one of the shittiest gaming publications and im not really surprised they didnt understand this was a joke

I remember their review of Mass Effect 3 said it was amazing, and they had one those second opinion review insets that also said it was amazing and had an amazing ending. Then one of them wrote an article defending the on disk DLC.

Their fanbase is also one of the shittiest I've ever encountered.
I remember expressing my opinion in some comments and whenever it was remotely negative or not "love bandwagoning" for certain articles or pointing out bad things I got shit thrown at me by every user.
I don't get it.
Tropico 5 is suspended indefinitely until we attempt to port it to Unity 5, Unreal and CryEngine for the low, low, price of $/month.
That's clearly satirical.
Would you expect anything less from Gamestop: The Magazine?
What if they're in on the joke, and we're the dumb ones. :tinfoil:
If someone outside of the game industry made this mistake, it'd be understandable. But I'm pretty sure a gaming publication should be more informed than that.
Guess not.
how can you possibly be in games journalism but not understand that you can't use 3 engines at once
I don't get it.
basically like building a house of of bricks then deciding you wanted a log cabin at the last moment.
Could be different engines for different platforms. I think Titanfall is doing something like that for the 360 version. But honestly this seems like more trouble than it is worth. Makes more sense to push the game out with what you have then focus on a new engine so you can give it your full attention and not spend months trying to fix all the bugs with the switch. That is my opinion on it at least.
lol

They were just pretending to be retarded? Okay.
What if they're in on the joke, and we're the dumb ones. :tinfoil:
they are in on the joke
the joke is games journalism
What if they're in on the joke, and we're the dumb ones. :tinfoil:
Well they certainly seem to be the butt of it, because we're the ones laughing.
whatever
so fucking excited for tropico 5
Who actually reads Gameinformer anyway?
I get it because it comes with my GameStop Rewards Pro thing and the extent of my interest in the publication stops at looking at the pictures and occasionally reading about an upcoming game I'm interested in.
I dislike how 140 character messages that often only reflect a certain person's opinions now are the prime source of HOT NEWS in gaming journalism.

If you ever need concrete proof of how crooked game 'journalists' are that whole fiasco is a great place to start. That article and their hamhanded attempts to defend it and dismiss valid criticism of the game reeked of advertising agreements and contractual obligation.
I like Gameinformer
