Dr. Wayne Harrington, an oral surgeon with a practice in Tulsa, Okla., is being investigated by the state dental board, the state bureau of narcotics and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency because one of his patients recently tested positive for hepatitis C and HIV without known risk factors other than receiving dental treatment.
I was one if his patients., Once back back in 2009 for wisdom teeth removal, never been him before that nor after. I am admittedly scared, but I am surprisingly not super freaked out. My family has assured me that my chances of getting it were low, and that since it was years ago and no symptoms have shown that I am pretty much in the clear, but of course we have all agreed I am getting tested just to make sure. Testing starts tomorrow, but me and my family are trying to decide whether a private doctor test is the way to go or to go to one of the free ones they're gonna have.
Well thats friggin horrible
Go for the private doctor test. Better safe than sorry.
Good luck
People like this deserve as many, or more years that murderers/rapists/mass frauds.
7,000 though... that has to be 50 years or well above.
50 years or well above.
Only 50 years, really? There is no sentence long enough for this.

Good luck dude. Hopefully nothing shows up for you

Which is why I said well above
7000 peoples lives may have been completely ruined, after all.
The day my town is finally on Facepunch, it has to be about this.

Holy shit, another Tulsan. Well, I live in a suburb technically but lived in Tulsa for my first 13 years, still go there often of course. Yeah, this fucking sucks doesn't it?
Well time spent at the dentist on the 1st is going to be full of great thoughts :v:

when they remove your wisdom teeth, [sp]if you smell a burning sensation and a pop inside your head, that means they hit the jawbone with the drill they used[/sp]
Jokes on you. I don't even go to the dentist.

Glad I don't need my wisdom teeth removed.
This is worrying. If I were a doctor I would be fussy about hygiene. Couldn't live with the guilt of giving someone an infection.
lived in lawton for 6 years but nothing interesting happened there.
reading this made me physically uncomfortable

Btw if they go too far in the jaw there will be a spurt of blood suddenly don't worry this is totally normal but if it doesn't stop RUN
[sp]I had my wisdom done in 30 minutes, 2 bottoms, super easy[/sp]

tulsa's much better than okc imo, a lot more stuff to do at night and the entertainment district is superb. however, you can find some very wacky people in and around tulsa and that story just furthers that example.

A little bit of reassuring news:

Long story short, they're more concerned about people having hepatitis B more than C or HIV.
Heard about this on the way to the con. I hope this hasn't affected too many people.
Bloodwork came back normal. No HIV or Hepatitis for me :)

That's literally what my oral surgeon did, except that it was sterile dental pliers, and I got novocaine. I didn't need any drilling or anything because my wisdom teeth weren't impacted; they were just extracted for hygiene purposes.
Had me worried here, I went to a dentist in Tulsa a few months ago.
Also interesting to see other people from Oklahoma here.

So by extension I'm in the clear too, right? I was getting a bit worried there.
Nah but seriously good thing you're okay.
