Hopefully "soon" isn't in Mojang/Valve time.
Those are some pretty lame t-shirts.
One more block goes through my head a lot..
Can't wait for that modding api. :q:
notch why don't you fix and optimize the game first
notch why don't you fix and optimize the game first
This, not to flaunt my pc specs but im lagging on a Q6600 at 3.2 ghz plus a gtx580, minecraft isnt multithreaded, but still theres no excuse for ANY frame drop ingame

Can't wait for the API. The shirts were as lame as hell though.
notch why don't you fix and optimize the game first
That would most likely require re-writing the game in (for example) C++ Java is a big resource-eater and requires a lot of computer power, that's the drawback of easy interpreted programming languages
I kind of hope there will be a bit more in the update I want more things to put in my house
The problem is Java. Not much Notch can do on his end.
Good thing you know what you're talking about.
Am I crazy or is saying that performance problems are all down to Java kind of stupid? It's like saying sorry about the graphics in my game, it's not my fault, I made them in MSPaint, it's MSPaint's fault.
Depends on how you use it Look at Muslim Massacre, well made pixely graphics Java can be a bitch sometimes but those sand games are pretty intense. Whatever the fuck MS is doing with Silverlight and shit on hotmail is worse.
The problem is Java. Not much Notch can do on his end.
Nope, Notch is a terrible programmer but he managed to make an addictive game.
Oh god garry disagreed with my post :suicide:

Since Java is an interpreted programming language (And runs on a virtual machine) it eats up a lot of computer resources. In Minecraft's case, you can perfectly see that because despite having a very simplistic graphic setup it runs poorly in a lot of midly-powerful computers. A Java game will never run better than a game written in a compiled programming language like C, and that's the main disadvantage of Java and all the interpreted languages out there, having full OS compatibility and not having to re-compile the source code depending of what OS/Computer/processor you want to use your program on but more computer power consumption [editline]30th March 2011[/editline]
Nope, Notch is a terrible programmer but he managed to make an addictive game.
Also this
Those are some pretty lame t-shirts.
You really think so? :( I just ordered 3 t-shirts

These are run on the virtual machine, which interprets the bytecode on the first pass, then compiles any hotspots into native code. This isn't even near normal interpreting.
The Java Hotspot does not include a plug-in JIT compiler but instead compiles and inline methods that appear it has determined as being the most used in the application. This means that on the first pass through the Java bytecodes are interpreted as if you did not have a JIT compiler present. If the code then appears as being a hotspot in your application the hotspot compiler will compiler the bytecodes into native code which is then stored in a cache and inline methods at the same time. See the inlining section for details on the advantages to inlining code.
The only reason to Minecraft's shitty performance is the code, not Java.
I'd buy the Three Creeper Moon shirt.
yeah, I can't even run it on my 8-core 5.3 ghz HD8970 24 GB RAM
Yeah you are so cool because you are getting much money from your parents we all worship you :worship:
It's nearly with all game merchandise shirts: a shirts with a feature of the game on the middle of it :v:
wouldn't be caught fucking dead with a minecraft t-shirt on, talk about social suicide.
Yeah you are so cool because you are getting much money from your parents we all worship you :worship:
Someone's jealous.
I love that three creeper moon shirt. would never wear it due to
wouldn't be caught fucking dead with a minecraft t-shirt on, talk about social suicide.
though
Someone's jealous.
Not really. I just don't like people saying stuff like "(video game reference) on my (expensive pc)". I have a quite good PC myself, but it wasn't always like this, so I know how annoying this can be.

Minecraft needs to use the GPU a bit more. A game with less the graphical spec than Blockland should run higher than 80 FPS on a i5 and 5870. And why can't we buy pickaxes from the merch store?
