KITCHENER — Michael Ball, 22, of Kitchener, whose father is president of the successful Kitchener firm Ball Construction, has been charged with the first-degree murder of Erin Howlett.
He appeared in Kitchener court Thursday to face 36 charges, including a charge of causing an indignity to human remains. Other charges unrelated to Howlett's death have to do with firearms, weapons trafficking and drug offenses...
... He posted several photos on his accounts on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram that show him wearing camouflage and posing with long guns, including several in which he is holding what appears to be an assault rifle. He also posted one photo of him wearing brass knuckles, an illegal weapon. He used the nickname "Buck" and several posts also refer to him hunting deer and bear this fall.
Dane Howlett said that his family is determined to be at every significant court date Ball has. "Erin was a large part of my life and the life of our family, and we want to be here every step of the way to see things through."
He said he and his family were pleased that an arrest had been made and the case was moving forward. "We're really pleased with the police, how they've conducted the case and how they've supported our family. It's been as good an experience as something like this can be."
Police have not released the cause of death, nor have they released any details of the evidence they found and underwent forensic examination.
Police divers searched the river on July 11 near Riverbend Drive. In addition to the two searches at the house on Chestnut Street, police divers also searched ponds in the Huron Natural Area in Kitchener on Oct. 2. Officers on foot searched surrounding woodlots and nature trails.
No other arrests were anticipated, police said.
Police say they received help from the public with tips as the investigation continued, as social media kept the case fresh in people's minds. Friends of Howlett started a Facebook page in her memory.
And... Where is local, again?
What's with construction companies and having fucked up family members.

Kitchener, Ontario
(I tried to fix that but FP shat the bed. If a mod would replace the first 'local' in the thread title that would be greatly appreciated).

You know it mentions the place three times in the first line, right?

Whoosh. :v:
For fuck's sake, I really wish people would stop murdering each other at the drop of a hat these days, this sort of thing makes me sick, and I just hope that (if he really is the real perpetrator) he is justly punished for his crimes.
I don't see why his father is relevant. Not very nice the media dragging his father's company through the dirt because he's a murderer.
Key point should be the murderer, not who his father is and which businesses he owns

I'm pretty sure most violent crimes have been on the decline actually. People these days...

Some of us are fed up to the back teeth with murders and murderers both, just so that you should know. There are plenty of other ways to die in a world like ours without having your life cut short by somebody else just because they thought it was a good idea.
Just keep in mind the world has always been about this shitty.
I'm quite aware that we live in a world where this sort of thing happens to be a regular occurrence, but there's no justification for killing other people. And I'm really not interested in hearing out any form of reasoning for why it was done from a murderer except as evidence in a courtroom.
He's going to need to use those family skills to construct himself a proper defense.
As someone with family in law enforcement, they love Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. It makes preparing a prosecution so much easier when the defendant provides the evidence for you.

You'd think a construction company would be able to keep the letters straight.

A part of me believes that you just wrote that so you could use a horrible pun.

When you say it happens to be a regular occurence, I guess you mean there is occasionally a murder among millions of people. I wouldn't say it's regular by any stretch of the imagination, more like the result of news providers making the world seem worse than it is in seeking dramatic headlines.

I immediately knew where it was because that's where all of Canada's Worse Driver candidates come from :v:
WOAHHHHH!!
This is so...oh man.
For starters, I'm originally from the K/W area. Secondly, my last name IS Ball. Third, WE HAVE A MICHAEL IN THE FAMILY.
I gotta make some phone calls.
Edited: False alarm. Some other family tree.
