The 58-year-old Ready Steady Cook presenter has been touted by Cambridge-based campaign organiser Jordan Harris in a petition as an ‘oily god’ who should ‘get his glory on the £20 note’.
Sources: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/petition-launched-to-put-ainsley-harriott-on-the-20-note-10263019.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3090489/Ainsley-Harriott-new-face-20-note-Thousands-sign-petition-celebrity-chef-s-image-banknotes-changed-year.html#comments

Jeez! at least use his best face if they're going to do it!
give that bill a good ol' rubbin'
On a serious note, I'd be okay with putting a chef on a bank note if they had actually contributed to the world's view of the UK on a significant level, but Ainsley Harriott, whilst an awesome guy, probably isn't that good.

Don't you realise he's the only true pure British meme left in the world??? Don't you think that's a prime industry we should be exploiting? The government have ignored this revenue strememe for too long.
He looks surprisingly similar to that oil guy? is it the same person.

That'd be kickass.

we should rename great british pounds to buttery biscuit bases
This is actually almost reaching it's goal as of posting this. Based Oily God
I say this would be the best decision the British have ever made.
I would run to the airport and get my currency converted at a booth just to have a Ainsley Harriot bill. This might be the most important thing the British have done so far.
A chef? That would add more to the slang term "bread".

Time to oil up my wallet.
Please.
I lean more towards this.

If they're going to do this, they should put the Go Compare man on the £50, to encourage spending. Because nobody would want to own a bank note with the Go Compare man on.
Unrelated to Ainsley, but people are saying we are/should have Jane Austen on one of our notes. And I honestly disagree, I think Roald Dahl would be such a better fit for the note.
"But the winning artist must be dead" I can't decide whether it's better to kill Ainsley to get him on the note or to keep him alive.
Goddamn, the top rated comments for the Daily Mail article

Hopefully this means the price of my signed Ainsley cutout I got for Christmas '05 will skyrocket.
