Wanna keep a lesbian out of your prom? Invite her to a fake one!
To avoid Constance McMillen bringing a female date to her prom, the teen was sent to a "fake prom" while the rest of her class partied at a secret location at an event organized by parents.
McMillen tells The Advocate that a parent-organized prom happened behind her back — she and her date were sent to a Friday night event at a country club in Fulton, Miss., that attracted only five other students. Her school principal and teachers served as chaperones, but clearly there wasn't much to keep an eye on.
"They had two proms and I was only invited to one of them," McMillen says. "The one that I went to had seven people there, and everyone went to the other one I wasn’t invited to."
Last week McMillen asked one of the students organizing the prom for details about the event, and was directed to the country club. "It hurts my feelings," McMillen says.
Two students with learning difficulties were among the seven people at the country club event, McMillen recalls. "They had the time of their lives," McMillen says. "That's the one good thing that come out of this, [these kids] didn't have to worry about people making fun of them [at their prom]."
In March, after the Itawamba County School District refused to allow McMillen to bring a female date to the prom, the district canceled the event altogether. McMillen and her lawyers from the American Civil Liberties Union challenged that decision in court, and a judge ruled the district could not bar McMillen and her date.
The judge declined to force the school district to hold the prom because a parent-sponsored, private prom was being organized — and the understanding was that McMillen and her date were invited to that event. But Hampton says McMillen was never invited and organizers made it very difficult for her to find information on the time and location. That prom was later mysteriously canceled, with the Friday night event at the country club officially replacing it.
Despicable.
It's fucking disgusting that they can treat somebody like that without feeling any guilt.
I can't find words to describe how fucking petty that is.
Just when you thought you had heard it all.
Call the ACLU, sue, get money, get bitches (since she's a lesbian)
Wow, what a bunch of tools...
You'd think that in this day and age, where people's attitudes towards homosexuals, lesbians etc has changed dramatically, albeit not completely, that they would accept the fact she's a lesbian and not segregate her from the rest of her school. It's absolutely despicable that a school would act in this fashion. The very place where kids are supposed to be tought to be tolerant of other people and respect their beliefs/sexual preferance, is infact blatantly advocating the opposite.
I hope people lose their jobs over this. And I hope the girls get a massive compensation payout.
Thanks a lot Mississippi for reinforcing the hatred people have toward the south. With assholes like you people will never see the south as a good place.
Them damn homersexuals are ruinin ur cuntry.
Fuck, what is wrong with humanity?
Wow, they cast out both the lesbians AND two mentally-challenged kids?
That's fucking low.
Wow, that's low. I could see it from High school kids, but the parents?
fucking assholes
"yeah lets have our own prom with normal people and shun everyone else because we are the best"
"yes that sounds like a great idea and not totally douchbag like in any way"

hey double post lol!
Assholes. They shouldn't get away with this..school should be a safe place for anyone, how can you expect people to be more understanding if the school is this open about supporting discrimination.
I was too ugly to get a prom date in high school.

The avatar fits. However, this is horrible, in creating an alternate prom just to avoid accepting someone. These people should feel ashamed and even guilty. When will people learn to simply accept someone. If you accept someone for who they are, it ends a shit load of problems.
I might be going to prom with a lesbian
They didn't want to invite her because she would spread her vaginal influence to the other women.
If they did it as kind of a joke it would not have been that bad, but to then throw in the mentally challenge kids their to so they would be "protected." Thats a bit fucked up.
As I recall, I'm sitting at my lunch table at school today. My friend keeps insinuating I'm gay so I'm like "Well, what's wrong with being gay?"
This one other kid at my table, who I never fucking talk too, says as I recall something rather muddled but sounding very suspiciously like
"Cause they're fucking retarded and faggots"
I sat dumbstruck
And then I ate my cookie, which was terribly undercooked.

Kids can be cruel, but what was especially upsetting is that it was the parents that organized this. And the kids are going to look up to that as an example.
This is a whole new level of lowness.
MCMILLEN VS PARENTS AND SCHOOL DISTRICT: ROUND TWO
BRING IT FUCKING ON
