The dinosaurs extinction, 2012, end of the world scenarios, what would happens to the world after we are gone. What the fuck is up with those documentaries? They're on all the time! Ok, 2012 is in barely 2 years, but we still have no solid evidence about what will happen...
I'm sick of hearing about that. It's like people are worried about it and keep talking about it to keep being worried!
Why do they still make those scare documentaries? This is an honest question.
Also, is anyone of you worried?
Apocalptic situations are pretty much a fetish.
To scare us into buying more Big Macs.
They once did a documentary where it went through what would happen to the planet if every human just magically disappeared overnight.
Turns out the last remaining evidence of human existence would probably be hoover damn

After 1000 years of course
Because as a race that constantly fears our deaths, we really REALLY want to pretend to know when it's going to happen.
Conscious or even subconscious fear makes people interested in this topic.
Interests in a topic creates demand of products related to it.
Demand is a cause of supply.
Creating the supply by making movies/documentaries/etc gives profit.
Action-reaction. Cause and effect. Yes?

Nope.

People have been believing they were the last generation of humans for thousands of years.

But this time we're right, trust me!

And they'll say that the next time... and the next time... and the next... and the next... an the next... until the world actually does end somehow.

Yeah, that was Life After People. One of the few actually decent post-apocalyptic shows that the History Channel did, at least before they went all crazy over 2012.
The world is ending for someone in the world.

Also, is anyone of you worried?
I have something for the whole 2012 bullshit going on, my physics professor stated that the solar system itself goes through the eliptical plane of the galaxy and it changes the way the earth's magnetic fields are and in some variable degree will change the weather pattern, at first it will be subtle changes that seem odd but apperently this happens every 20,000 years and bingo bongo about 20,000 years ago was when the last ice age happened, wouldn't really surprise me if going through the whole mess again will put the earths seasons into whack mixed with fucked up magnetic fields and shit then we get the start of another 3rd ice age. Mind you this is just a theory that is speculated. I doubt any of the other scary bullshit will happen.
This is why I stopped watching the History channel because this is all it is now
Tell me about it. I'm already paranoid as to what will happen, you don't need to remind me about it every two seconds, especially at christmas you bastards...
In 2012 we will all die 4 days before Christmas.
Wtf Mayans, couldn't you at least give me a week of doomsday-free so I can use my gifts?
How 'bout this, live as if every day were your last, because some day that will become true. No need to worry about silly apocalypses anymore.
The apocalypse shows, paranormal shows, and aliens shows have forced me to stop watching History Channel.

That's a terrible idea.
I'd be snorting too much coke and bangin too many expensive hookers to get anything productive done.
This sort of crap ruined History Channel.
Damn, I liked all those WW2 documentaries...

I didn't say become a dirty filthy worthless fuck. I said live everyday as if it were your last, as in, ENJOY EVERY MOMENT YOU ARE ALIVE. Even when you're droning on in school/work. Enjoy the little things more. Why does everyone always assume that "living everyday as if it were your last" entails massive amounts of drugs, sex and crime.

Because that's what a lot of people would do. Don't lie, you'd want some sweet lovin' before you go.

Of course as any normal human would. That doesn't mean it has to be hookers though :v:
I enjoy the speculative, what if x even happened documentaries. Like what would happen if the Earth stopped spinning. But yeah, the 2012 fear and hype is dumb.
He is sick of hearing about the end of the world scenarios, but he makes a thread to discuss it.
Because the Apocalypse is that awesome scenario that everyone wants to see, but nobody wants to experience.

The Hoover Dam? Fuck, I know where I'm holing up, I live in Las Vegas and that would be a reasonable distance to walk with a small post-apocalyptic party!

It wouldn't matter though cause you would have magically disappeared. :v:
