The endgame of 22-month negotiations concerning the nuclear capabilities of Iran is upon us. If the diplomats can solve these issues by Monday that deal is as good as clinched. Iran and the six powers involved in the talks have given themselves until Monday to reach a deal, their third extension in two weeks, as the Iranian delegation accused the West of throwing up new stumbling blocks to an accord. An agreement would be the biggest step toward rapprochement between Iran and the West since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, although both sides are likely to remain wary of each other even if a deal is concluded. You will find that, where corruption is concerned, the two parties are the same. If they stand to make money, they will support it. They can be contentious on foreign relations because it won't cost them money and makes them look good on Fox News or MSNBC.
There's absolutely no reason to have a deadline, or stick to a deadline, in this negotiation.

When you're negotiating and the other side has a ridiculous demand that you can't possibly accept, you just let it run toward the deadline. The other side either has to let the demand go or risk the whole deal being thrown out altogether. We've been using this to great effect.
