So, yeah, basically what may be the greatest movie ever made. Or at least something seriously good to watch.

It looks pretty good judging by the trailer(s). What's really got me intrigued is the cast- two of the biggest action stars of the past decade, one of the greatest actors of all time and fucking Yvonne Strahovski. And the source material it's based on is seemingly similarly interesting (The Feather Men), especially with the controversy around it.
I've been disappointed by movies far too often to go ahead and believe that this is going to be as awesome as it seems, but dammit, I want to believe.
I thought it was a remake so I was "meh" about it. But since it's a new story this could be good after all.
Awesome set of actors right thur
I saw the trailer the other night. I was like "wait, is that Yvonne?"
I'll watch it for Yvonne but stay for the story
LMAO "based on true events" the book this is based on is a sad fantasy of a very bored man.

It's true that he wrote a book. And there have been events where people have killed each other
Eh, it doesn't look bad but I'm skeptical about it because of Jason Statham, who hasn't been in a good movie for years. Still, could be good.
This could go either way for me, but so far, it looks promising.

Ranulph Feinnes was a member of the SAS and once blew up a dam used in the filming of Doctor Dolittle because he thought it was ugly using C4. So i'm pretty sure this isn't a fantasy but I don't have all the evidence so I can't be sure.

Apparently, on Wikipedia, He admitted the book was a work of fiction when the real-life daughter of one of the men in the book became offended by her father's portrayal.
Or something.
Oh god I love Jason Statham. Definitely going to see this.
Jason Statham and Clive Owen? I can't wait for the Mark Kermode review.

Yes, yes and Andy Mcnab fought off an APC and a platoon of Iraqi regulars on open ground and then tabbed back over harsh terrain fighting several more firefights before ultimately being captured. :rolleye:
Being in the SAS doesn't immediately make you credible in everything you say.
Stop to consider how ridiculous the story is. A group of super secret elite killers SOMEHOW track down the specific members involved in any number of the operations that happened in the Oman out of a possible 2 regiments that are known to have been in the area over the years. That's 4 men specifically picked out of a potential 7000-10000.
And compounding this, another super secret group saves the authors life, because this vigilante group just so happens to have the resources to do so against a super secret group that somehow has the resources to do the above with MoD or MI5, or MI6 being none the wiser.
I'm not saying it's absolutely true but he did serve in the Gulf of oman so there could be a chance.
I always thought Robert DeNiro was too old to be in action movies.
Am I the only person who doesn't like jason statham

Honestly IDK. He's a badass and is bonafide action man material, but he keeps picking shitty films.
And I would like to see him do something else besides popcorn flicks, it's clear from his older work that he does have acting chops.
i laughed hysterically when he did a backflip sitting in a chair
Jason Statham's only purpose in life is to be a total badass as much as possible. He's the 10's version of the generic 80's action movie star.

So basically : His acting abilities are limited

Big love for Kermode. I love his Statham impression

I don't think it's that, as much as there hasn't been a decent vehicle for the action genre in some time. Think of some of the action genre's greats like Die Hard 1 and 3, Predator, etc. Since the 90s, there hasn't been ANY decent pure action genre films. Zero.
We've had noble attempts like the expendables and the A-team, but even those kind of blew ass compared to the classics. Part of the problem is hollywood's idea of getting a good director for an action movie is to go guys whose entire CV is made of music videos which is fucking dumb, rather than doing the smart idea and just going for a good director period.
So the problem for Statham is he's probably got an agent who is saying to him "look man, you're action hero material, you're going to be a huge action start and revitalize the genre *dickjerk dickjerk*" and keeps landing him action films that keep hitting below the mark.
Statham can act and he has been in a few great films like snatch and the bank job, as said though, alot of the films he's in are popcorn flicks, they are not rubbish, but they are forgettable experiences, here's looking at the transporter series.
Having read the book, there is alot of known facts and incidents, but there is alot of unproven events that seem too far fetched to be true (yet still plausable), finnes has stated that ther book is fiction but if you've heard him 'admit' it is then you are left unsure, he simply replies "yes" to the question and nothing more, almost as if to say "If you don't believe me then i havent got time to persuade you otherwise so i'll let you believe what you want too", He's and his book have been ditched by the SAS and want nothing to do with either, yet he's never apologised or spoken out about it. Either because the SAS don't want to admit it, or because it's a load of lies.
I think it's fiction, but you can be forgiven if you think it's true aswell.
Film itself looks interesting, but i'm not sure about it.
Do
Want
Looks better than a lot of movies coming out.

I liked Blitz and the expendables, just not nearly as much as the Transporter movies.
Blitz had an interesting ending, that's for sure.
