Sustained Lower Back Pain: Did Squatting Cause It?

I've started upping my squat weight (just started focusing on my lower body), but I've noticed that my lower back (like at the base of my spine, or the top of my ass crack) is really sore. It hurts when I try to stand up from a sitting position, and it's starting to worry me. I noticed that if I massage it a bit, it feels a little bit better, but then after an hour of not massaging it and trying to stand up it hurts again, and I can't start massaging it at school, it would look too weird.
Any insight/suggestions? Has this happened to anyone else? I'm pretty sure lifting did it (can't think of anything else that would cause it), but I was doing the squatting with a competent trainer and he says my form was excellent, so I don't know.
Are you doing your squats right? If you don't use proper form when doing squats you can really fuck yourself
a proper squat utilizes the lumbar spinae to stabilize you while performing the moment. The soreness should stop after a month or so of squatting ... if not, you're good mornin' the weight up
Yeah, I'm doing the squats correctly. Thanks for the help, both of you!
