(CNN) -- He expected him to say yes. The unmarried couple had been together for about 6 ½ years, but it wasn't until Tuesday that a state senator from Nevada was able to ask his partner to legally marry him. After a ruling from an appeals court overturned the state's ban on same-sex marriage, state Sen. Kelvin Atkinson was on stage in what was to be a meeting to explore Nevada's next steps in pushing for legalization of marriage for gays and lesbians. "I was telling my story and it just came out. I proposed to him on stage in front of everyone," said Atkinson.
http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/08/politics/nevada-state-senator-gay-marriage-proposal/index.html?hpt=po_c2 Video in the link
literally the best possible way to take advantage of a situation :v: "Im proud to announce that gay marriage in now legal in that state of Nevada! On that note..."
haha, that was neat way better than proposing at a Knicks halftime show
And I never thought that politicians could be this based.
Like I said. Things gonna get cra-zay in Vegas :v:
"Today the court declared gays and straights equal, and I would like to prove this by being just as much as a shithead as those men who propose at baseball games."
Who pissed in your drink today?
The woman who said no :v:
Who pissed in your drink today?
Myself, but that's what I get for doing my own plumbing. But who wants to be put under that much pressure?
Myself, but that's what I get for doing my own plumbing. But who wants to be put under that much pressure?
Simple, you don't propose if there's even a 1% chance of the answer being 'no'.
"Today the court declared gays and straights equal, and I would like to prove this by being just as much as a shithead as those men who propose at baseball games."
Who cares if he proposed in front of people? Plenty of straight, gay, and bi people do that. You're the one being a shithead.
I'm not a fan of public proposals for certain things, but the chances are that having been together for 6+ years, they had talked about marriage at some point. It's likely the only thing holding them back WAS the ban.
This makes me very happy.
Myself, but that's what I get for doing my own plumbing. But who wants to be put under that much pressure?
why would somebody feel like they're under pressure
why would somebody feel like they're under pressure
Do you seriously want to be the person that humiliates your partner in front of a baseball stadium full of people?
'that much pressure' article specifically says they've been together 6+ years
Do you seriously want to be the person that humiliates your partner in front of a baseball stadium full of people?
i'm not even talking about the baseball stadium thing im talking about this if you're doing something like that then it's probably a good idea to consider whether or not you'll get a no before embarrassing yourself.

The couple say in the video that they had talked about getting married previously, but they wanted to wait till their own state would recognize it. Wow, ninja'd.

I don't think this was unexpected, being with someone for 6 years means one of the partners has to fuck up big time to get the other to leave him, and there was no pressure on either side, each knew that they wanted to go into a marriage. Power to'em.
