Just saw an interesting documentary about host clubs. Really depressing shit

Haven't watched much of it, but my friend did a research paper on host clubs in Japan and said most of the hosts have to binge drink a lot, and then throw it up after so they can serve the next person and stay sober.
Oh I remember watching this, its like a male escort for girls. Its sad that theres so few guys trying to get girls in japan that the girls have to resort to this kind of stuff

I'm pretty sure this is just a strange phenomenon in Japan and it has little to do with the fact that "so few guys are trying to get girls."
I find the whole thing despicable, but the fact that this type of thing is lucrative is kind of surprising.
wow really good documentary, japan is so weird
I remember watching this my senior year in college (mind you all the friends I had I made through Japanese class) and I was depressed as hell for a while. I could not really ask our sensei about it because she was from a more rural area of Japan. But for many men this is their only option outside of endless part time work. So the equivalent of choosing to work 4 jobs to make ends meet or being a prostitute and having a good bit of money that some people in the United States choose.
great film. might still be on netflix.
I could only watch 9 minutes of this. Very stressful indeed.
