It's also one of the only profitable Space Programs in the world as well. I have folks in the ISRO, some of whom were involved in the Chandrayaan project - they're some of the coolest people I know and having been to Sriharikota to view rocket launches, the program is pretty awesome.

Given the belt-tightening NASA has received in the last few years, it's a nice surprise to see another party taking an interest in space programs.
The indian space program is excellent, it was india who discovered water ice in the lunar polar regions.

No, it's not a joke - the infrastructure at the time was so bad that you needed to use bullock carts to get to the launch site.
We've gone from that, in 30 odd years, to Mars. It's staggering to think about.
