As parliamentary polls get under way in the Czech Republic this week, artist David Cerny has floated a huge purple statue of an extended middle finger down the River Vltava in Prague. The outsized purple hand has been mounted on a barge floating on the river.
It is pointed at Prague Castle, the seat of President Milos Zeman.
dohohohohoo.
that's a really long finger
For that extra pleasure.
Brilliant. Simply brilliant.
Someone now needs to go there and glue a blow up doll to the top of it.
It's actually a missile that contains even more hands with the finger.
Take that mr president
Czechmate
Now I can actually be proud to be Czech
I still can't decide who to vote for. That finger represents how a lot of people here feel.
should of had one of these for the Australian election
what so bad about him

Also, I swear I've heard David Cerny's name before.

He's a quite well known Czech artist.
He did for example this for the London Olympics.

Nah, a glass of booze would be a lot more appropriate given our noble president and his "viremias"

I guess I have the benefit of having decided even prior to the votes, but I can see why a lot of people might have trouble with choosing anyone.
ODS is imploding
Top09 did make some unpopular choices
KDU are the good old we'll sleep with the majority side
KSCM - nuff said
CSSD - lots of boneheaded plans from time to time and I really hate the way they kept attacking the goernment.
Zemans, ANO, greens, pirates, VV, Usvit etc are basically all flavour sides of the moment which might make a blib on the radar these votes, but they'll be gone the next time.

I'm a law student so my view might be a bit shafted but - He basically tries to fuck over the constitution, tries to directly attack our courts, has a lot of very questionable people surrounding him, is a fairly nasty drunk and we're all just waiting until he has another "virosis" and this time somewhere on a diplomatic delegation.
Now I know he's an incredibly intelligent man, who successfully plays a working class politician even though he's upper middle class, but I (and a lot of people my age) utterly dislike him.
Basically the direct presidential votes were in a lot of ways incredibly polarising for our society in part because of the two candidates. The one is this guy, the other is an older austrian prince who has very questionable czech and was basically the main candidate for the right and considered stuff like the Benes dekrete no longer relevant to be brought up in politics again.
The voting device was massive with more central areas and younger people voting for the candidate that lost with many older people, people from the border regions, voting for Zeman. Often in part not because they liked him, but just because they didn't want someone who can't speak czech well enough to win.

Technically, Pirates are as old as Top09. They just never had money for a real campaign.
I am probably going to vote for Pirates because I don't believe that any of the other parties wouldn't make me regret voting for them.
I'm going to vote the party of free citizens. So far, they haven't had any chance to mess something up, their program is pretty cool (i agree that it's a bit optimistic) and this is their candidate #3 http://andreaholopova.blog.idnes.cz/bloger/16425/bloger_720.jpg which is a reason itself.

I'm the kind of person that likes to see the pirates in regional seats, the EU parliament, but I really really don't want to see them in the national parliament. Not entirely sure why, but sort of afraid they'd cause more trouble there than is worth it.
But from what I know they tend to be very good at regional governance and they do bring a fair bit interesting issues up in the EU one.

Will admit, was thinking of voting for them for a while as well. But they are a bit too let's lean up the state as much as possible. - to a level it's scary
