• Duke Nukem Under-Preforms Expectations And Lowers Take-Two's Revenue Estimates
Unfortunately, Duke Nukem Forever has not performed as well as publisher Take-Two would have liked. It's actually done so poorly that the publishing giant had to lower its revenue estimates for the first quarter as a result. The loss? Roughly $25 million (USD). The firm is now estimating Q1 revenues at $350 million, down from its initial estimate of $375 million, with Duke Nukem Forever sales estimated at 1.5 million versus initial estimates of 3 million. Those estimates are roughly in line with those made by Sterne Agee, which puts the game at 1.5 to 2 million. Even with this loss, Take-Two is still set to have a profitable year also despite not releasing a new GTA title. L.A. Noire has actually exceeded sales expectations, going from an initial projection of 3.5 million units sold to 4 million units sold. It is also expected that the company will take the lid off of Grand Theft Auto V some time during fiscal year 2013.
Sources, CS-Nation Escapist Magazine Shack News
they deserve it for publishing that pile of trash
man who could've ever expected this [editline]6th July 2011[/editline] plenty of people actually
Would've bought it if they didn't send me a copy/the demo didn't suck. I honestly wouldn't have bought it if I had only played the demo.
Saw commercial for game, already knew it sucked.
ITT: People who have not played Duke Nukem Forever commenting on how bad it is. It is actually a very fun and humorous game.
ITT: People who have not played Duke Nukem Forever commenting on how bad it is. It is actually a very fun and humorous game.
I played it. [editline]6th July 2011[/editline] heh, I can't really take you seriously when you compliment it like that "how was that roller coaster ride?" "it was fun and humorous"
ITT: People who have not played Duke Nukem Forever commenting on how bad it is. It is actually a very fun and humorous game.
If you preordered it you get the DLC that's coming soon for free. Seems nice of Gearbox to do. I liked it though, it was everything I expected. Big guns, tits, and classic Duke.
ITT: People who have not played Duke Nukem Forever commenting on how bad it is. It is actually a very fun and humorous game.
It's subjective, but saying that it's "a pile of trash" or that it's plain shitty on, say, a Big Rigs level is overreaching if you haven't played it. Also, to Del91, are you psychic? Are you able to tell when a game is announced and trailers are released that it's going to be awesome? If you're psychic, PM me, I need some financial advice.
ITT: People who have not played Duke Nukem Forever commenting on how bad it is. It is actually a very fun and humorous game.
fun and humorous if you're a god damn 10 year-old
It never underperformed. It was overated from the start.
I don't think it's shitty, i think it's generic and boring.
I agree Yeah, watching those naked women bound and raped inside the alien hive thing and haveing Duke blow their brains out was so fun and humorous!
Yeah man that was so funny, like I can't believe they actually made that because they like making rape jokes, and you know, since it isn't in Duke 3D. :downs:
It never underperformed. It was overated from the start.
This is the truth.
fun and humorous if you're a god damn 10 year-old
You know what's weird. Some people may like different types of humor than you. It's ok, calm down, it can be a hard concept to understand, but with time you'll get it. Some people like humor that is somewhat simplistic and immature, and some people like witty humor with great thought behind it. Some people like both. It's really a poor statement on someone's overall emotional maturity what they find funny, more just on their personal taste. Now something that does reflect on one's emotional maturity is insulting and berating people whose opinions differ from yours. That would be tremendously immature and rude. Also to The golden on "The Hive", I agree completely. Totally jarring shift in tone and alot of jokes that were pretty tasteless. Just in that section though. The rest of it is straight Duke, exactly like he was in DN3D.
I actually hope they make a new one, at least one that isn't as bad. It would be great to have a good modern Duke Nukem game.
It wasn't special. Just a standard First-Person-Shooter that took a trip to Comedy Central. The only novelty Forever had was that, hey, it's a Duke Nukem game (except he's just a bit more douche-y then before), and SOME interaction (not stellar or everywhere like they made it out to be). If you're going to badmouth DNF without having played it, take your own measures to play the full version. The demo was only the very opening and a very dry part of the game (in consequence, a really shitty demo).
DNF was like Bulletstorm only without the good gameplay
bulletstorm had good gameplay?
Damn. 1.5 million is still a lot of copies.
I liked Duke Nukem Forever :colbert:
bulletstorm had good gameplay?
aside from the weapons and point system, no
Bulletstorm was a good game?
no
ITT: People who have not played Duke Nukem Forever commenting on how bad it is.It is actually a very fun and humorous game.
ITT: Fanboys who think that because someone thinks a game is bad, they haven't played it. I decided to give this game a chance at my friend's house and I was literally falling asleep trying to play through it. Worst experience I've had with an FPS in years.I mean the interactivity and humor is fun for a while but there's no good gameplay to go with it.
fun and humorous if you're a god damn 10 year-old
Fun and Humorous if you were a Duke3D fan. [editline]7th July 2011[/editline]
I agree Yeah, watching those naked women bound and raped inside the alien hive thing and haveing Duke blow their brains out was so fun and humorous!
You mean like how they were eggs were stuck to walls by giant slime things in Duke3D :v:
Fun and Humorous if you were a Duke3D fan.
Humorous? Yes Fun? No
the problem was that it was such an amazingly dull game talking about it requires a lot of energy because there's such little to talk about
I liked it. Felt like a game from 2008 though. Asskicking and shooting shit Duke3d style, it did that quite well I think. Bit repeating though, maybe if it was 30% shorter and cheaper it would've been a lot better game.
Humorous? Yes Fun? No
And thats where I disagree, the game is incredibly fun. Especially at the monster truck portions because it actually feels like you're driving a fucking monster truck.
